Boyz II Men Rocks It Acapella On "The Sing-Off" (COOL)

I don't watch "The Sing-Off" because I'm not a chick but there was actually something kind of cool that happened during last night's episode which I found out through the wonders of the internet. Boyz II Men showed up (sans Michael McCary) and performed an acapella of "Yesterday" and "End of the Road".  They sounded awesome and almost like old times except for the fact that they were missing McCary's bass that really completes their sound.  It was still a great performance though.

Boyz II Men is still one of my favorite R&B groups of all time.  They have and amazing sound that is very unique when compared to groups of the past 20 years.  If you sent them back in time, they could have easily made hits with all of the greats on Motown Records.   They also have an amazing catalog of hit songs that I somehow seem to forget about until one starts playing on iTunes randomly and I start singing along.

I'm surprised that these guys have faded away a little bit over the past 10 years or so but I could easilly see them making a resurgence with some new material.  Their sound is timeless and they will always be stars in the music business as long as they want to keep making music.  It sounds like all 4 members are going to reunite in 2011 for a 20 year anniversary album.  That's definitely something to look forward to and I'm sure they won't disappoint with that one.

While we're here, we might as well take a look at some of their best joints.  "Motown Philly" was my JAM back in middle school!  It's still nasty as hell too! (Look for The Roots' ?uestlove on the drums at 1:38. So random!)

"Thank You" was also one of my favorite tracks on their second album "II"

More old school Boyz II Men vids after the jump.
