Here's a look at the new
Air Jordan True Flight "Court Blue" joints that are set to drop on January 17, 2009 for $140 retail. I think these are pretty hot. It's a complete toss up with these hybrids though. Some are really solid and others are just "meh". There doesn't seem to be any consistency.
I feel like there are a few different kinds of hybrids to consider when you are talking about Jordans these days too. There are the OG hybrids like the
Spiz'ike's or
Six Rings that take their design cues only from pieces of multiple Jordan's to create a new style. Then there's the
AJ Fusions which combine two completely different Nike shoes with the Air Force One and a particular Air Jordan of choice. Finally, there are the Remix Hybrids like these
True Flights or the
B'Loyal,
B'2Rue or the
Jumpan Team Pro that take a basic design of just one Jordan and flip it into something completely new. I would consider the OG hybrids and Fusions more of a collector's item or for casual rockin' while the Remix Hybrids are more for ballin'.
For the most part, I like these
True Flight Jordan's because the majority of the design is based off of the
Jordan VII. I have a serious love for the VII's because they were the first Air Jordan's I ever had in my life and I rocked those hard all season during the 1992 Freshman basketball season. If my foot hadn't grown, I would still be wearing those on a regular basis if they hadn't disintegrated by now. Those were some of the most comfortable shoes I ever had. I wish I could get another pair but I missed the new retro they dropped a few years back and also the
7/16 Countdown Pack in June. Writing about these is giving me the itch to buy them but I have to hold off or rob a bank to get them. Maybe the True Flights can serve as a temporary replacement for the near future or until I can find some VII's again:
