Red Sox Pull Off Game 1 Win In ALDS

Photobucket

As I predicted yesterday, I was not able to stay awake for the entire Sox game last night.  Actually, I fell asleep at like 11:00 around the 3rd or 4th Inning.  I feel like a 75 year old man in the middle of the week.  I don't know what it is.  I guess I made the mistake of trying to watch the game in bed.  Bad move.  Instant coma within 15 minutes.  I need to stay on my feet!

Anyway, from what I saw for the first few innings, I thought the Sox were in for a long night.  Lester started off slow and got in trouble the first two innings but got out of it fairly unscathed except for that one RBI by Hunter.  Had Lowrie not made that error, Lester may have ended up pitching 7 shut out innings.  From what I saw on SportsCenter highlights, Lester got in a groove in the later innings and started mowing the Angels down one by one and even struck out the side in either the 5th or 6th.

Ortiz had a few opportunities to knock in some runs early but nothing was happening.  Luckily, Jason Bay stepped up and crushed a HR to put the Sox ahead 2-1 and they didn't look back.  Sick win in Game 1 and to steal one on the road.  Let's hope they can get some similar pitching on Friday night when Dice-K takes the mound.

Here are some morning recaps from Game 1:
