Guess Who's Back? - Eminem Confirms New "Relapse" Album for 2008

The person who made the picture above got the "King Mathers" title incorrect but the speculation of a new Eminem album was definitely on point.  Rumors have been floating around for a few months now but a new album was confirmed by Eminem at a launch party on October 15th for his new book "The Way I Am""R3LAPSE" is the official title and is scheduled to drop some time before the end of the year.  I've heard that it might even be released as early as November or December before 50 Cent's new album "Before I Self Destruct" drops on December 9th.  This will be the first studio album from Em since 2004.  He released a compilation album/mixtape called "Eminem Presents The Re-Up" in 2006.

This is supposedly a snippet of a new Em track called "I'm Having a Relapse" off the album but I think it is just a new freestyle or mixtape track, or at least I hope so.  It definitely sounds like that crap he was putting out on his last album with the Triumph the Puppet Dog voice he was using.  I hope he takes it back to the hungry, early years but it might be tough considering he is mad rich now and doesn't have much to be fired up about these days.  I don't think this is good enough to make the cut for a new album but maybe I'm just not feeling it right now.  Listen and judge for yourself:

While reading some other related posts I came across this sweet bit of information:
"The album is set to drop sometime in 2008 and will feature the usual production and cameo features from the Aftermath and Shady families. Em is also getting his sneaker game up as he has teamed with Nike to bring a special edition Jordan sneaker to the shelves. The sneaker will feature hand written lyrics from Em's songs on the outside and will only have a limited run of 313 being made. The number 313 is an homage to Eminem's hometown of Detroit, with 313 being the area code."

I was pretty excited about the news of another collaboration with Nike.  Em has had a few custom Nike's made over the years so it will be nice to see an official release, although in a limited run.  I am sure the combination of Air Jordan's and Eminem will make these impossible to buy in stores and they will probably fetch a hefty sum of money to get your hands on a pair through eBay.  I can't wait to see what he cooks up.

Here's a look at the Nike Air Max's that Eminem has customized in the past, including a pair dedicated to his fallen D12 homey, Proof.
