Jay-Z Named Executive Producer of NBA 2K13 (NICE!)

NBA 2K13 already sounds like it's stacking up to be one of my favorite games of all time and I barely know a thing about it other than from what's in this video. All I know is that it's got my favorite rapper, Jay-Z, I'm assuming there will be a heavy feature of my favorite basketball player, Michael Jordan based on what they've done the past few years and I'm sure the gameplay and graphics will be even better than 2K12 even though it's almost impossible to improve on that. What I'm trying to say in my babbling is that I'm really looking forward to this damn game!

Just to fill you in with a few more details, Jay-Z has been tapped to be the Executive Producer for NBA 2K13. Jay-Z will oversee the soundtrack and I'm sure it will have a ton of his own music, sprinkled with other Rocafella and Def Jam artists and maybe a few others. I'm sure he won't have to do much real work and they are really just using his name as a way to help with sales but I can't blame him or EA Sports for agreeing to it. I'm sure it will help sell more games which is the main goal. I'm looking forward to hearing more...

Grand Theft Auto V Trailer (DOPE)

There's been so many sick games dropping lately.  I don't know if I can keep up.  I just don't have enough time in my day to play all of them so I have to be selective.  Based on this trailer, it looks like Grand Theft Auto V has a chance of making it's way into the rotation.  This looks so sick!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - "The Vet & The n00b" (SICK)

You've probably already seen this new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 commercial by now but I thought I would throw it up because I can't get over how f'n awesome it is.  At first I thought it was a trailer for a real movie because of the Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill appearances.

Actually, they probably should make this into a movie considering it would be better than most of the crap they put out these days.  Also, I didn't even notice Dwight Howard was in the commercial until I saw it again last night.  Just a classic commercial all around.  I don't usually play first person shooter games because I suck at them and I would definitely be the n00b but after watching this, I'm certainly considering it...

NBA 2K12 - Legends Showcase DLC Teaser (COOL)

If you already own NBA 2K12 then you are probably aware of the Legends Showcase add-on/download that will available very soon.  For those that don't own the game, first off, WTF are you waiting for?  This is probably the best sports game of 2011, at least in my opinion.  Go cop that ish!

But if you were sitting on the fence for some reason, this should probably put you over the top if you're an NBA fan.  Not only will you be able to play key games with the top legends that are already included in the game such as Dr. J, Jordan, Bird, Magic and Kareem but you will now be able to play 21, Horse, One on One, Two on Two and more with more legends and past all-stars.  The video above gives you a brief hint of what you can do with the new download.  I think it's only $10 so it definitely seems worth it to me.  I'll definitely be downloading that as soon as it's available.

NBA 2K12 - All Default NIKE ID & Foot Locker Shoe Options for My Player (SICK)

I've finally had a chance to dig into NBA 2K12's My Player option and I have to say, it's pretty awesome.  If you played NBA 2K11, it is very similar in feel but they add many more details this time around, including a lot more shoe options.  There are a bunch of default selections available from Jordan, Adidas, Converse, Reebok & Nike and you can unlock even more as you play the game.

My favorite non-Jordan options were the Converse Chuck Taylor, Converse Weapon and Reebok Question.  I'm sure I'll be lacing my player with all of those joints at some point in his career.  The Jordan Brand sponsorship is back as well.  If you play well enough to get noticed by MJ, he might sign you to the brand and give you your own shoe. Dopeness.

NBA 2K12 Promo - The Great Debate w/ Brian Wilson (HE LOVES THE CELTICS)

This is pretty awesome.  I've never been a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants' Brian Wilson and his weirdo antics but sometimes he can be pretty funny and this is one of those times.  Not only does he argue the '86 Celtics were the best team of all time but he also put on a Bird wig, nut hug shorts and some classic Celtics garb to represent to the fullest.  I wasn't expecting that but I certainly respect it.

You also get a nice look at some of the highlights from NBA 2K12 at the end of the video.  If you haven't picked this up yet, I suggest you get it ASAP.  It plays very similar to 2K11 so there weren't any huge updates there but it was almost perfect last year anyway, so I'm glad they didn't mess with it too much.  What they did do was offer the ability to play with some of the greatest teams and players in NBA history and let you see who would be the greatest team of all time.  I've been addicted to it ever since I got it last week and I don't see myself stopping any time soon.  Dopeness.

NBA 2K12 Promo - "Jordan Invitation" (6 RINGS)

My man Michael Jordan breaks it down in this new spot for the new NBA 2K12 video game that will be dropping later this fall.  My favorite line was when he said "'98 Bulls.  No pushoff."  Nuff said!  HA HA.

Jordan, Magic and Bird in NBA 2K12 Preview (SICK)

I've been busy as hell all week with work so I haven't been able to post anything but I thought I would at least hit you off with something cool I stumbled upon last night.  Michael Jordan is back in NBA 2K12 and this time he's bringing along all of the greats like Dr. J, Kareem, Magic and Bird among others.  MJ, Bird and Magic will all get their own covers as well.

It's looking more and more like there won't be an NBA season next year so if I am going to be getting my fix via video games, I might as well have lots of options from the past and present.  I hope they don't tweak the game too much when compared to 2K11 because that game was probably the best basketball game I've ever played.  I'm still playing it at least once a week and not getting sick of it.  So dope.

2K Sports’ Top Spin 4 Commercial Featuring Serena Williams (SEXY)

DIZZAMN!!! That is some serious booty right there! I don't know about you but I am a serious fan of Serena Williams' body. Yes, she is super diesel and could probably beat the shit out of me but she's also got curves for days and there ain't nothing wrong with that. If you are going to promote a tennis game, this is the way to do it. I have no idea who the other chick is but she's pretty hot herself.

This game actually looks pretty damn good. I'll play tennis games once in awhile but haven't bought one in years but Top Spin 4 might be getting my $60 pretty soon. I need a new game and this might be it.

I think these screen shots sealed the deal for me:

Madden NFL 11: Greg Jennings Scores Touchdown with a Broken Leg (FUNNY ISH)

I don't know why but this video cracked me up.  It's kind of funny that Jennings was even allowed to play with a broken leg and was still able to score a touchdown but the dude who made the video and doing the commentary is funny as shit.

I can't really tell if that's his real voice and lisp but I assume it is because his XBox Live game was GUMBYBOUTDATLIF.  I have no idea what that means but the Gumby reference is dead on.  Funny shit.

"He's Back" - Kobe's 2K11 Commercial About Michael Jordan (COOL)

As much as I usually can't stand Kobe, I have to admit that I like what he did with this new NBA 2K11 commercial.  He basically bowed down to MJ and give him his props as the G.O.A.T. without actually saying the words.  I can respect that.

He even added him to the Lakers in the game!  I can't really handle that image.  That's just too weird. Imagine those two playing together though?  I'm not sure there would be enough shots to go around to keep everyone happy but I certainly think they would be a more lethal combination than that of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James.  That would be a sick matchup though, now that I think about it.  I just might have to make it happen in 2K11 tonight.

By the way, if you are a basketball fan or like sports games, you need to pick this shit up immediately!  This is one of the best games I've ever played and certainly the best basketball game of all time.  You can play in all of MJ's classic games like when he dropped 63 on the Celtics in the playoffs in 1986 or when he had 6 three pointers in the first half of the NBA Finals against the Blazers.  I would have bought th game but it'se MJ features as a standalone game if it was available but it turns out that it's just one of the many awesome features included in NBA 2K11.  Just check out these graphics below.  That looks like a real game!  So nasty!

NBA Jam Preview w/ J. Cole, 9th Wonder, Kevin Durant, Tyreke Evans and More (IN STORES NOW)

NBA Jam is back and is officially in stores now.  I'll admit, I'm pretty pumped up about this.  NBA Jam was by far one of my favorite games growing up and it's nice to see it get a badly needed update with new players and graphics.  The game still looks like it has that same look and feel as the original which is great.  The simplicity of the game is what makes it so much fun.

I like that they added some Hip Hop stars to the mix in the game.  I don't know if you can pick them right away or if you need to put in a password like you had to back in the day to get players like Bill Clinton or NBA mascots but either way, it's a nice little twist and update.  The video above features Kevin Durant, Tyreke, Steph Curry, Brandon Jennings, J. Cole and 9th Wonder.

I thought I would have to pick this up for the Wii, which I still might do but the game will also be available for the XBox 360 and Playstation 3 soon.  Good ish.

NBA 2K11 - MJ's Greatest Moments (SICK)

I cannot wait to get NBA 2K11. This game looks ridiculous!  I bought 2K10 over NBA Live for the first time last season and I thought it was one of the best hoops games I've ever played. I was thinking about going back to NBA Live this year since I heard they did a complete revamp that was supposed to be sick but I don't think I can do that now that I've seen some of the new Michael Jordan feature in 2K11. This looks sick!

In case you couldn't figure it out, the video features Josh Smith, Derick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo and Derrick Rose.  NBA 2K11 is available in stores everywhere 10/5/2010. You can pre-order it here now: http://bit.ly/NBA2K11preorder.

DJ Hero 2 Preview; In Stores October 22nd (LOOKS SICK)

DJ Hero 2 is on it's way with a release date of October 22nd.  I'm actually not as excited about this one as I was for the first because I haven't played the original DJ Hero that much yet. It's not that the game isn't good.  I just haven't had much free time and I kind of forget I own it sometimes.

On top of that, I would rather play it with the speakers turned all the way up to get the best sound but that doesn't exactly work at night when I'm playing games while the wifey is sleeping. I guess I could go with some earphones but I'm too lazy to buy an extension from my stereo. I definitely need to play the O.G. a little bit more before I get DJ Hero 2. Hopefully they will drop the price by the time I'm ready to buy it.

Anyway, here is a little more info about DJ Hero 2. As you will notice in the clip above of the RZA, you can actually play the game as some of the top DJ's and producers in the business today. This includes DJ Tiesto, A-Trak, Q-Bert and Jazzy Jeff to name a few.

There will 83 new mixes available to use during the game including songs from Busta Rhymes, Lady Gaga, Eminem, David Guetta and Kanye West.

Here are a few samples:

Busta Rhymes – “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See” Mixed With M|A|R|R|S – “Pump Up The Volume”
Naughty By Nature – “O.P.P.” Mixed With Jackson 5 – “ABC”
Young Jeezy ft. Kanye West – “Put On” Mixed With DJ Shadow feat. Q-Tip and Lateef The Truth Speaker – “Enuff (DJ Fresh Remix)”
Kanye West – “Heartless” mixed with DJ Shadow – “Midnight in a Perfect World,” Lil’ Wayne – “Go DJ” mixed with 50 Cent “In Da Club.”
2Pac ft. Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman – “California Love Remix” Mixed With B.o.B ft. Bruno Mars – “Nothin’ On You”
Flo Rida ft. Will.I.Am – “In The Ayer” Mixed With Clinton Sparks, DJ Class, & Jermaine Dupri – “Favorite DJ”

You can find a full track list here.

If you already own the first “DJ Hero”, you will be able to buy just the game for most likely $50-$60 since no price has been given yet. A Turntable Bundle will be available for $99.99 just like the original but they have also added a new Party Bundle option. The Party Bundle will cost $150 and will come with 2 turntable controllers, a copy of the game and a microphone.

NBA 2K11 Michael Jordan Premiere Trailer (LOOKS NASTY!)

WOW!  NBA 2K11 looks sick!!!  I cannot wait to get this freakin' game on October 5th.  I was seriously considering getting NBA Live 2011 because they are doing a complete upgrade of the game and it looks pretty solid itself but 2K11 looks too good to pass up.  I might have to bite the bullet and get both.  Maybe one for the XBox 360 and one for the PS3.
Photobucket
It was announced a few months ago that Michael Jordan would be on the cover of NBA 2K11 but this trailer is the first we get to see his character in action.  They definitely got his signature moves down perfectly and they even included the free throw line dunk and the cradle.  SO NASTY!!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Jordan hasn't been available as himself in a basketball game since way back in the day.  He had some kind of deal in place where his name couldn't be used in a basketball game or something like that.  I think it was because he had his own video game called "Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City" which was a terrible game that was more like Mario Bros. than anything resembling basketball.
Photobucket
After that, most hoops games usually replaced him with a white guy wearing #99 who was nasty as shit but you always knew it was supposed to be Jordan.  So dumb.  It was pretty ridiculous that we never got to use the G.O.A.T. in his prime but at least we can relive those days with 2K11.  Shit looks dope!!!

"Scratch: The Ultimate DJ" Game - Features a Numark Controller (DJ HERO KILLER?)

You've probably noticed my recent obsession with DJ Hero over the past few months.  Although it's not exactly the most authentic DJ experience, I thought it was the closest I would ever get to combining my love of DJ'n and video games.

Now that DJ Hero has finally hits stores, I thought I was going to go out and cop that ASAP but I just found out about a new DJ game "Scratch: The Ultimate DJ" which is making me think twice about my potential purchase.  I wish I knew when this was coming out because this looks twice as good as DJ Hero.  All I have been able to find is a Q1 2010 release date even though it was originally scheduled to release this past summer.

Based on the video clips I've seen, this is probably as close as you can get to the authetic DJ experience through a video game.  Genius Products and Genco Interactive looks like they have spent a lot of time developing their product to make sure it stands up to the competition.

The turntable may be small and kind of cheap but it looks like it functions exactly as it should.  The crossfader and beatpad are made by Numark so you know that is legit and fairly well made.  They even had DJ's like Mix Master Mike come in and give their feedback to make sure it would satisfy even the harshest critics.

They were also collaborated with Quincy Jones III who is an award winning producer who has created beats for LL Cool J, 2pac and Ice Cube to name a few.  He helped them gather hit top tier artists such as  Run-DMC, Eric B & Rakim, Kanye West and Gorillaz for the playlist which is huge.  If you don't have the music and name recognition, it doesn't even mattter how good the game may be.  People just won't buy it.

Here are a few more details I grabbed from their site to give you some more insight into the controller and game play:

"The game has two modes—Solo and Studio. Solo is based around gameplay, where you match the beats, samples and scratches to the song being played using a combination of MPC-style control pads (produced in conjunction with actual MPC manufactuer Akai), a crossfader (which works as a toggle rather than a sliding fader) and of course the turntable (Numark’s standard CD-J wheel). It’s standard rhythm gaming fair and many players might leave it at that. But game designers Genius are mostly enthused about the additional features.

The game play mode itself offers ample room to “improvise,” allowing the player to insert his own scratches and sample triggers in between the scoring notes. And the live audio scrubbing means that manipulating the turntable wheel and crossfader creates real scratches, just like you can on a professional CD-J. The game even follows the nuances of scratching, tracking hundreds of variation of real scratches performed by actual DJs. We’re told that there will also be tutorials to teach proper scratching technique, meaning the next generation of CD-J turntablist could be trained using the game."

I am definitely going to be keeping a close eye on this game as more video previews drop.  It may not end up having the same marketing budget as Activision's DJ Hero but it looks like a way more authentic DJ game that could actually help someone learn some real (albeit minimal) DJ skills.  I really think this is going to inspire kids to try DJ'n for real.  That might not always be a good thing since some people have zero musical talent and would get booed out of the DJ booth but if this gets some kid interested in the art form and takes it seriously, I don't think there is anything wrong with that.  Who knows.  Maybe it will help inspire the next Mix Master Mike or DJ Q-Bert.  You never know.

Either way, this game looks SICK and I need to get it.  I need to start saving my money ASAP.

DJ Hero: Behind the Scenes with Eminem (IN STORES NOW)

Yes, I am obsessed with DJ Hero and I don't even own it yet.  Get over it.  I was kind of hoping since I put up like 7 different posts promoting Activision's game for free, there was a chance that I would have one magically appear on my doorstep one morning.  That has strategy has not exactly panned out so I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy this damn thing myself.  Weak.

DJ Hero Intro Cinematic by Framestore (COOL)

I believe this is the official intro to Activision's DJ Hero.  I'm not really sure what it has to do with the actual game but who really cares because it's freakin' awesome.  There must have been a ton of work that went into producing something this crazy.

Either way, it continues to get me hyped up for DJ Hero's October 27th release.  Now I've got that Birthday money to blow.  Holla!

NBA 2K10 Commercial w/ Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose (IN STORES)

Here's a new online commercial/video from 2KSports promoting the release of NBA 2K10 which hits stores today (October 6th).  It's a little boring at first but Kobe absolutely PWNS Derrick Rose with the following interaction:

D-Rose: My guy is awesome because his name is Derrick Rose!
Kobe: My guy is awesome because he has 4 rings!
D-Rose:  (Speechless for a second)  I can't even get to the second round!

http://www.nba2kway.com

I'm still up in the air about whether I should buy NBA Live 10 or NBA 2K10 or both.  Each one looks like a solid release this year so it's going to be a tough decision. Has anyone out there bought either game yet? Let me get your opinion so I can figure out what I'm going to do...

NBA 2K10 Trailers and Video Clips for XBox 360 and Wii (SICK)

As I've stated before, I am a big NBA Live fan but based on these trailers, I might have to give NBA 2K10 a try this season.  This just looks too dope!  I hate having to choose one or the other because both titles have their strengths and weaknesses.  This could be a tough decision this year.

Maybe I'll get NBA Live 10 on XBox 360 and NBA 2K10 for the Wii.  This looks pretty solid with the Wii Motion Plus.  You are literally taking jumpers yourself.  SICK!

NBA 2K10 drops on October 6th.

More videos after the jump.
