Black Star - "Fix Up" Colbert Report Performance (DOPE)

Wow.  I missed everything on this one.  I had no idea Black Star (aka Mos Def and Talib Kweli) were getting back together and I also had no idea that they had already released a new song and performed it on The Colbert Report on Comedy Central.  That's a super random appearance for them since like 1% of the audience actually listens to their music but they did a great job and probably gained some new fans.   I didn't even know they had musical guests on that show.  Weird.

I think it's safe to say the live performance is better than the studio version because of the energy they brought to the stage but the recorded version is still hot.  I can't wait for this album.  It's been too long since we had some real Hip Hop like this.  So dope!

Big K.R.I.T. ft. 8-Ball and MJG - "Money On The Floor" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

I think this has to be my favorite song out right now.  It's got that old school southern sound which is taken to the next level with the appearance of 8-Ball and MJG.  This shit bangs!  The video is NICE too.

I haven't heard a song from Big K.R.I.T. yet that I didn't like.  This dude is the truth.  He's definitely one of the best new artists of the past few years but he still hasn't gotten the shine he deserves.  Hopefully this song will help propel him to the mainstream a little more because we need more rappers with skills like him to save the genre for the future.

Are You From HERE? Kemba Walker's Under Armour Ad (COOL)

Check out this cool spot that Under Armour did for Bobcats rookie, Kemba Walker.  That's some real shit.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how he plays in the pros.  He's a little undersized but he's a winner and as Tim Tebow has proved recently, sometimes that's all that matters.  The kid has heart and I bet he is going to surprise a lot of people this year.

On a side note, it's about time the NBA related commercials started coming out.  Everything is finally getting a little closer to normal.  We probably would have seen this ad and some of the others that have been popping up lately a long time ago if it weren't for the F'n lockout.  I NEED MY NBA HOOPS!  Christmas Day cannot come soon enough.

T-Pain feat. Lil Wayne - "Bang Bang Pow Pow" (HOT)

This is some solid new shit from the man everyone loves to hate, T-Pain. I don't know if it was on purpose or not but he kind of disappeared over the past year or so and only made the occasional guest appearance once in awhile. This was a good move because he was saturating the market too much with his sound and I think people were starting to get sick of him.

Not everyone likes T-Pain but you have to admit he knows how to make hit songs. I've always liked him but I also got sick of him at the same time, especially when he was using too much AutoTune.  It seems like he's gone away from that and he's showing that he actually has some decent singing ability on his own. It's nice to hear him coming hard with something like this too, as opposed to the Hit Pop he usually releases. This new joint is harder than most of his recent singles but it's upbeat enough that it could get some radio and club spins. If this is any indication of where he's going on his new Revolver album, it should be another banger.

The Muppets: 'Saw' Trailer (AWESOME)

This is nuts!  Who would have thought the new Muppets would be so edgy?  It's too bad the movie won't be this crazy but I would love it if they would do a PG-13 or Rated R movie like this in the future.  There's nothing better than inappropriate shit with puppets or cartoons and they can get away with so much more.  It would be funny and disturbing at the same time.

I used to love The Muppets back in the day and looking back on it now, they used to actually do some pretty crazy things on that show that was probably completely inappropriate for kids but that's how it was in the 70's and early 80's I guess.  Either way, I'm still going to consider seeing this movie when it comes out on DVD because I can watch it with my son and also relive the good old days.

Statler and Waldorf, the old grumpy guys up top were probably my favorites but Beeker, Animal and the Swedish Chef were pretty awesome too.

Air Jordan XI Concord - Dj RyB's Early Delivery

Photobucket
Yessir.  These are pictures of my new Air Jordan XI Concords that I was lucky enough to cop almost two months before their official release date of December 23rd, 2011.  I've had them for a few weeks now but I kept forgetting to upload the picks of the initial unboxing.  I finally stepped my game up and decided to post them up for your viewing and drooling pleasure.
Photobucket
I was able to cop a pair of the Space Jams when they released back in 2009 but my sneaker collection didn't feel complete until I had the Concords in my hands.  I actually had a chance to buy these when they originally released back in 1996 but I wasn't sure about the patent leather and decided to pass.
Photobucket
After a few months went by, the look grew on me but it was too late so I settled for a pair of the Air Jordan XI IE's with the grey snake skin.  I've been kicking myself ever since and was never able to get a pair due to either a lack of funds or just not having the ability to stand in line forever.  I may have paid a premium for the Concords this time around but it was well worth it since I've got them before most people and I didn't have to camp out for them.  I am now happier than a pig in shit.

Thursday Throwbacks: T.I. - "24's"

Since I was already in a T.I. state of mind, I thought I'd throw up one of his older classic joints for the Thursday Throwback post.  Although rims aren't as big of a deal as they used to be back when this came out, the song itself holds up pretty well.  This was the anthem for anyone that had some hot rims on their ride back in the day, although most of us were lucky if we could afford some 18's or 20's, yet alone some 24's.

Day-Day: "Just got some 20's on there.  Them 20's.  I just got them."
Craig: "Them ain't 20's but it's off the hook."
Day-Day: "Them are 20's, man.  Naw, they 10's.  I bought em from somebody...but they nice though."

T.I. Ft. BIG K.R.I.T - "I'm Flexin'" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Ah shit!  This new T.I. joint sounds like the reincarnation of his alter ego, TIP.  T.I. goes hard on this one and he also had the sense to bring on one of the best up and coming rappers on the scene right now, Big K.R.I.T.  Dope beat.  Dope lyrics. I don't need to say much more about this.  It's straight head bangin' Hip Hop.

NeverWet Spray Protects and Shields Sneakers Like Nothing Else on Earth (AWESOME)

If you're a sneakerhead like me, you're always looking for new and better ways to protect your sneakers from every day life and more specifically, the sneaker killers of dirt, grime, grease and water.  I have probably bought 20 different sneaker protectors over the years and although they work decently, they never seem to fully protect your sneakers from the major accidents, scuffs and liquids that surround you every day.  How many times have you or someone around you dropped something like ketchup or fruit punch on your kicks and you immediately got heated because you knew your kicks would never be the same?  It's one of the most depressing moments in a sneakerhead's life.

With Ross Nanotechnology's NeverWet superhydrophobic spray-on coating, it seems like you will never need to worry about these mishaps ever again. Just look at this madness in the video. Chocolate syrup just deflects off of a white canvas shoe like it was made of glass. Unreal. I know I'll be copping this product IMMEDIATELY once it's available. I'll be sure to keep this post updated as soon as I find out when and where it's available.

Ace Hood Ft. Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Wale & DJ Khaled - "Body 2 Body" Remix (NEW ISH)

Ace Hood's "Body 2 Body" has been out since earlier this year but the remix featuring Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Wale & DJ Khaled just dropped recently and it's kind of given the song a second push.  I have to admit, I kind of forgot about this joint and I think it's kind of underrated.  I thought it would be a lot bigger than it ended up being.

On a random note, the picture that was used for this video is kind of strange and I think one of the YouTube commenters nailed it:

It looks like rick ross bout to grab his butt and khaled tryin to get a glimpse lol

HA HA!  So true.  Here is the original song.video while we're here.

Cee Lo Green - "Anyway" (Official Lyric Video)

Not bad.  This is definitely more on the poppy tip with the uptempo beat, safe guitar riffs and catchy hook but I'm not really complaining.  I wasn't sure if I would make it all the way through at first because I wasn't immediately impressed but I found myself getting into it as the song progressed.

Cee-Lo is officially in the zone.  Anything he has released over the past few years has been an instant hit.  I'm just surprised it took him this long to get recognized by the mainstream because he's been making dope music for almost 20 years.  Crazy!

UConn's Jeremy Lamb Dunks Over Some Poor Columbia University Player (DEEZ NUTS)

DAMN!  Now that is how you start the season off right, young fella.  Good lord.  I knew Jeremy Lamb could throw it down with authority but that was just downright nasty.

I feel bad for the Columbia dude who made a half-assed attempt to go up for a block until he realized it was too late and the posterization had already commenced.  That wasn't quite a Vince Carter over Frederick Weis ordeal but he was certainly getting very close.  Luckily for him, he kind of fell to the ground in hopes of getting away but it was just too late.

FADER TV Interview with Dr. Dre (NO DETOX?!?!)

This certainly isn't good news for any Dr. Dre fan that has been waiting more than a DECADE(!!!) for the Detox album.  It seemed like we would almost certainly get this album in the near future since two singles had already dropped and a few other songs had leaked but now it sounds like Dre needs to take a break from the game which is not a great sign for this album ever being completed.

I've read numerous articles and tweets from rappers that say the album is done and will definitely be dropping so I don't know what to believe.  I'm sure it probably could be released right now but Dre is a perfectionist to a fault at times so it may never see the light of day.  I just hope we get something because the fans deserve it at this point. We've had more than enough patience with his bullshit.  It's time to just release Detox as is and let the music speak for itself.  Come on, man!!!!

Rihanna ft. Jay-Z - "Talk That Talk" (NEW ISH)

This will probably be taken down from YouTube sooner than later so I thought I would throw this up as soon as I could. I'll try and keep it updated with new links because the record labels usually end up giving up at some point. I fully expect this to be a huge record since it's the first collabo between Rihanna and Jay-Z in awhile. The song itself isn't anything groundbreaking but it's got a cool vibe with a catchy hook which is all you really need these days. It kind of sounds weird hearing Jay being featured on an R&B track like this since he rarely does it anymore but I'm not complaining. I thought his appearance is what made this song stick out from the rest.

NFL Catch of the Year? - Chiefs' Jonathan Baldwin Pulls Off the Impossible

This play technically didn't count as a legal catch because there was a penalty on the Chiefs that brought it back but it still needs to be considered for catch of the year because of the degree of difficulty. Baldwin secured the ball against Brian Dawkins' back and then found a way to pull it in and get possession while falling to the ground. Unreal!

Arkansas Razorback Joe Adams' Incredible Punt Return (NASTY)

This punt return by Joe Adams is probably going to be the best one of the season and could be one of the best returns of all time when all is said and done. I just can't imagine anyone being able to pull off something more spectacular than that. He should have been tackled approximately 15 times but the dude just kept going and never got tired. That is something that you might see during a flag football game but not something that you expect to see during a D1 college football game. He made Tennessee's special teams defense look DUMB. So nasty!

Dub FX and DJ Unkut Get Crazy w/ Traktor Pro 2 (SICKNESS)

I just downloaded Traktor Scratch 2 last night and although I've only spent minimal time with it, I'm really loving the new features.  The best addition was probably the sample decks that you can load with any sample that you create or find.  The best part is that you can either trigger the sample like a drum machine or you can create a loop and have it play in time automatically with the master tempo of the track playing which basically means you can remix anything on the fly.  It's pretty f'n awesome.

As Dub FX displays above, you can also use inputs to create sample loops by using a microphone or other input source.  It works best if you have the new Traktor Kontrol S4 but you can definitely do some crazy shit with other set ups as well.  The fact that Dub FX was able to create a complete song on the fly just by using the mic, his Traktor Kontrol S4 and Traktor Pro 2 is pretty incredible.  The song itself was sick!

Traktor has also updated their Native Scratch Technology for even more precise scratching with their vinyl control records.  I don't use the vinyl as much anymore now that I have a USB controller that can handle most basic scratching duties but even when I used the vinyl, I never noticed much of a lag anyway.  It wasn't almost exactly like using real vinyl but the fact that Native Instruments was willing to update that technology and take it to the next level tells you something about their dedication to getting their products perfect.  DJ Unkut takes the technology to the limits in the clip above and does not disappoint.  NASTY!!!

Big Sean ft. Nicki Minaj - "Dance (A$$) Remix" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Here's the official video for one of my favorite commercial joints out right now.  As I've mentioned before, "Dance (A$$)" is kind of a ridiculous song but for some reason it just gets me locked in every time I hear it.  Sometimes it just happens with a dumb song like this, even though you don't really want to like it.

On a random note, the best line of the song has to be:
"You gonna get a tip today...Fuck that...you gonna get some dick today!"

Herman Cain’s Campaign Promises with Mike Tyson (FUNNY)

Funny or Die comes through with another classic video, this time using Mike Tyson to portray the crazy side of Herman Cain.  It's a little ridiculous and exaggerated but that's what makes it great.  I think the main reason why it's so funny is because of  Tyson's awful acting and pronunciations.  Their casting couldn't have been better.

On a side note, the best line was definitely this:  "Because The Tea Party loves Crazy more than they hate Blacks".  WOW.

Garrett McNamara Rides 90 Foot Wave (RIDICULOUS)

This dude is nuts! That wave is f'n huge!!!  It doesn't even look real!  You can barely see the guy when they show the wide shot.  Just incredible.

There is no way in hell I would even consider catching a wave over10 feet if I could even actually surf.  I almost drowned one time when I was like 12 boogie boarding after a hurricane.  The waves were pretty big and strong but they were like a fraction of this shit.  I can't imagine how you could hold your breath long enough to live if you ever fell off the board.  Shit is crazy!

Grand Theft Auto V Trailer (DOPE)

There's been so many sick games dropping lately.  I don't know if I can keep up.  I just don't have enough time in my day to play all of them so I have to be selective.  Based on this trailer, it looks like Grand Theft Auto V has a chance of making it's way into the rotation.  This looks so sick!

Heavy D. Dead at Age 44 (R.I.P.)

I was very surprised to hear this morning on the news that Heavy D had passed away last night.  Someone just mentioned on the radio yesterday how it always seems to come in threes and I guess we are almost there already.  First it was Joe Frazier and now it's my boy Big Heav.  He even gave his own R.I.P. message to Frazier on his Twitter handle just yesterday.  Damn.

I grew up on Heavy D and the Boyz back in middle school and high school and even though they sold mad records back then and had a bunch of hits, I always thought they were underrated.  I guess it's because he was more of a commercial artist in a time when the raw and grimy rappers were getting more attention.  Now it's the complete opposite.  If those songs were released today and were just as successful, Heavy D would be a huge name in Hip Hop.  He is still well known but I'm not sure he'll ever get the credit he deserves.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite joints from back in the day.  He also just released a new R&B flavored album that was really solid called Love Opus.  Go and take a listen on Spotify if you get the chance.  It's some nice Hip Hop/R&B for the older set.

Saigon - "Enemies" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Saigon's The Greatest Story Never Told has been out for awhile now but it's nice to see he's finally dropping a video for one of the doper tracks on the album.  It's too bad that it took so long for him to get a proper album released considering he had a nice buzz a few years back but don't sleep because he's still bringing the heat.  TGSNT is one of my favorite underground albums of the year and you can listen to it all the way through without even thinking about pressing fast forward.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - "The Vet & The n00b" (SICK)

You've probably already seen this new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 commercial by now but I thought I would throw it up because I can't get over how f'n awesome it is.  At first I thought it was a trailer for a real movie because of the Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill appearances.

Actually, they probably should make this into a movie considering it would be better than most of the crap they put out these days.  Also, I didn't even notice Dwight Howard was in the commercial until I saw it again last night.  Just a classic commercial all around.  I don't usually play first person shooter games because I suck at them and I would definitely be the n00b but after watching this, I'm certainly considering it...

Drake Ft. Andre 3000 and Lil Wayne " The Real Her " Lyrics (Free To Take Care Album)

I'm not really sure how I feel about this track "The Real Her' from Drake's new Free To Take Care album.   I'm OK with the slower R&B vibe but I feel like Lil Wayne doesn't really fit on this song at all and his flow is kind of painful. Andre 3000 definitely sounds more comfortable on a track like this. To be honest, I kind of wish it was his song so we could hear more verses and maybe just have Drake on the hook. I didn't really even like the song until 3000 jumped on...

"Kim's Fairytale Divorce" - SNL Skit Making Fun of the HumpDash Wedding (HILARIOUS)

SNL finally came through with a funny skit this season after being thrown a fastball right down the middle with the Kardashian wedding drama that has been going on over the past few weeks.  They absolutely crushed this one out of the park.  I think Kristen Wiig nailed the Kris Jenner character.  If you pay close attention to her, she's constantly doing things in the background to steal the camera just like the mother would do in real life.  She looked just like her too!  Freakin' classic.  Kris Humphries also got completely owned by Andy Samberg by making him look like a complete moron without even having to say a word.  Classic skit...

Kirk Herbstreit Almost Craps His Pants During Oklahoma Earthquake (YIKES)

The look on Kirk's face when he realizes he is sitting through an earthquake is funny but also a little frightening.  It was literally a look of "am I going to die right now"?  We can look back on it now and laugh since no major damage was done but that had to be scary as hell for him and everyone in the stadium.  When you are up that high, all you are thinking about is whether or not the stadium is going to collapse.  Not cool.

Canadian Sports Anchor Barry Deley Wins $2 Million Lotto Live On Global BC (CO-WORKERS GET PISSED)

I'm not really sure how this dude was allowed to win this lottery considering he works for the station that did the drawing but if it's legal, good for him.  It just seems a little shady and his co-workers tend to agree since they were pissed and extremely jealous as they talked to him live on the air.  The male co-anchor even swore on the air saying "I'm gonna read sports shit because I have to work for a living."  HA HA.  Jealousy's a bitch bro.  Settle down and be happy for your friend.

Amy Winehouse Ft. Nas - "Like Smoke" (NEW ISH)

Take a listen to this new Amy Winehouse joint featuring Nas as soon as you can because UMG is taking down all of the copies on YouTube at a ridiculous pace.  I was surprised I was able to find one that was still working since the first 5 or 6 I tried were already down even though they had just been uploaded today.

Anyway, this is a hot joint but it's slightly depressing since you realize this is some of the last "new" music we'll ever hear from Amy Winehouse.  She had her problems but the girl had some serious talent.  Her soulful style goes perfectly with Hip Hop and I guarantee she would have continued to link up with rappers more and more as time rolled on.  It's too bad.

Here is the remix of "You Know I'm No Good" she did with Ghostface Killah.  It's definitely a favorite of mine.

American Reunion Trailer (LOOKS GOOD)

The American Pie series kind of fell off after the sequel and then they started making low quality, straight to DVD releases that were loosely connect to the original but I have to admit, this American Reunion actually looks pretty damn good.  All of the original characters are back and it's been long enough since the original that they can actually touch on some new subject matter to give the series a refresh of sorts.

I know trailers can be deceiving but these look good.  I don't think they are showing the funniest parts of the movie for once so I think it has serious potential. On top of that, I love the infatuation with R. Kelly joints in both of the trailers.  Classic!

Thursday Throwbacks: MC Lyte - "Poor Georgie" (PLUS JEEZY'S "SHAKE LIFE)

I decided to go with MC Lyte's Poor Georgie" for this week's throwback because of a new Young Jeezy track called "Shake Life" that I've been hearing on Sirius a lot lately.  It's definitely a hot joint and finally something decent from his new Thug Motivation 103 album which keeps getting delayed because all of the songs he was releasing from it were garbage.

Anyway, I recognized the beat immediately since it's just a slightly harder version of MC Lyte's "Poor Georgie".  The original sample is actually from Toto's "Georgy Porgy" which is a funky old school joint.  Here it is for your listening pleasure.

NBA 2K12 - Legends Showcase DLC Teaser (COOL)

If you already own NBA 2K12 then you are probably aware of the Legends Showcase add-on/download that will available very soon.  For those that don't own the game, first off, WTF are you waiting for?  This is probably the best sports game of 2011, at least in my opinion.  Go cop that ish!

But if you were sitting on the fence for some reason, this should probably put you over the top if you're an NBA fan.  Not only will you be able to play key games with the top legends that are already included in the game such as Dr. J, Jordan, Bird, Magic and Kareem but you will now be able to play 21, Horse, One on One, Two on Two and more with more legends and past all-stars.  The video above gives you a brief hint of what you can do with the new download.  I think it's only $10 so it definitely seems worth it to me.  I'll definitely be downloading that as soon as it's available.

Justin Bieber Freestyles Over "Otis" Instrumental On Power 106 (VERY IMPRESSIVE)

Woah!  I was not expecting that at all.  The Biebs went in on the "Otis" instrumental.  Good lord!  He's better than most of the dudes doing it for a career these days and that was just for fun.  I could actually see him releasing a few rap tracks or even an album and I wouldn't even hate if it sounded close to this.  You know he would get the best beats and guest appearances because of his connections too.

The only criticism I have is that this was obviously not a real "freestyle" since he had the rhyme memorized but that was still impressive nonetheless.  No one really goes off the top of the dome anymore so I really won't even hold that against him, especially since he is actually a singer first.  Mad props dude.

Kevin Durant Plays in OSU Flag Football Game After Twitter Conversation (MAD COOL)

You've probably heard about or seen this video clip by now if you were watching SportsCenter or PTI yesterday but it's still worth another look because it's a cool story. Since I'm too lazy right now to type it all out, here's the summary from BusinessInsider.com:

"Durant started the whole thing by tweeting, "This lockout is really boring..anybody playing flag football in Okc..I need to run around or something!" A guy at Oklahoma State tweeted him back saying he had a game in Stillwater. He and Durant started DM-ing. And a few hours later Durant arrived at his door and drove him and his buddies to the field. After the game, he tweeted, "I had soooo much fun at Oklahoma st playing flag football! Shoutout my new buddy @groverbey for inviting me! I threw 4 tds and had 3 ints!!""

Phiten presents Still Flexin' by Pac Div Ft. Melo, Bosh, D. Williams, E. Gordon (RANDOM BUT DECENT)

I'm not really sure what is going on here but I guess Phiten is trying to tell us that their titanium bracelets are the next wave of bling?  OK.  Sure.  I'm not sure it was necessary to pay for NBA stars Melo, Bosh, D. Williams & E. Gordon to show up in the ad since they really didn't provide much value but at least Pac Div made a nice little track for the ad.  Interesting...
