Here are some more random videos that didn't make the cut this week but might be worth viewing if you have some time to kill. They weren't strong enough to warrant their own post but as a package, it seems to work...
Pigeon Riding the Subway - This pigeon is the shit! He's like "My wings are mad tired, yo. I'm just gonna take the subway for a few stops." I knew city pigeons weren't afraid of humans but imitating them is on some next level shit!
Truck Crosses Flooded Road - How the hell did this truck's engine not seize up while this dude is driving through a 3-4 foot river? WTF?! I was not expecting this end result. Dude had balls!
Scott Van Pelt Gets PWNED by Captain Jenks from The Howard Stern Show - Do TV shows even employ call screeners anymore? How the hell does a nerdy white dude who doesn't even change his voice or sound anything like Brian Westbrook get right through onto a live SportsCenter? Ridiculous.
Marquis Daniels has only been on the Celtics for a few weeks but he's already making a big impact. Unfortunately, it's not on the court. He has the internet on fire with this video of his new diamond endcrusted medallion of his own head. You stay classy, Marquis!
Damn! Another video already? Luda is definitely motivated these days. He's already dropping "My Chick Bad" as the second single from the new Battle of the Sexes album and it doesn't even drop until March 9th. He'll show you how to do this, son!
Luda sounds rejuvenated and sharper than ever. He's always been one of my favorite rappers because of his witty and humorous lyrics and I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what kind of heat he's got on this new one.
Lots of Jay-Z heat in this post. First, we have a live performance of "On To The Next One" from the BBC's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross. You don't see Jigga performing on late night talk shows like this in the U.S. very much these days so it's cool to see him in front of such a small crowd like this.
Next up are two somewhat random videos from a Swedish TV show documenting the history of Jay-Z's smash single "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)". It's actually a really cool look at how the song was created, how Jay stumbled across the beat at a concert by accident and then how it almost never got released because Lyor Cohen didn't think it was a Def Jam worthy song.
You can tell that Jay was a little thrown off at first talking so in depth about just one song but once he got going you could see the wheels turning in his head as he started to realize how important it was to his career. He never considered it one of his Top 10 records before but this interview might have changed his mind.
The first video has a decent amount of Swedish but if you can get through that, it's worth it just for the interview with Jay-Z. The second video is almost all in English so it might be a little more tolerable but neither one is that bad. Either way, this is a really in depth behind the scenes look at the making of a classic Hip Hop record which is something you don't get to see very often.
I don't think you would ever see an American TV show giving this much time to just one song, unfortunately. It's too bad because there is some really interesting stuff in here and I have a feeling that a lot of classic songs have some great stories just like this one.
Oh, you thought that Nike MVPuppets commercial where LeBron does an insane 30 second hand shake with the Big Z puppet was an exaggeration?!?!? Hell no! If anything, it wasn't long enough. Just check out this ridiculous routine from an actual game.
That's a good minute and a half of straight handshakes and almost all of them are unique. Gotta love it. "Graceful bow."
To help celebrate the 25th "Silver" Anniversary of the Air Jordan line, the North Carolina Tarheels wore silver uniforms and sneakers last night against FSU. They got destroyed once again but at least they looked nice losing. I still can't get over how terrible this team is just one year after winning the NCAA Championship.
Here is a more detailed look at what they wore last night:
This is a look at famous celebrities and politicians caught in lies and scandals with the perfect soundtrack of "Women Lie, Men Lie" by Yo Gotti feat. Lil Wayne. Even though this includes clips from the past few years, it was edited recently enough to include Tiger's apology speech. Well done.
This is a crazy new track from Snoop Dogg ft. Kid Cudi called "That Tree". I was not expecting a collaboration between these two dudes but it definitely came out nice. I thought Cudi stole the show on the hook and his first verse but then Snoop came correct and and killed it on the next verse. To top it all off, Diplo produced the killer beat which makes it an even crazier collabo. Just dope shit all around! This one definitely deserves to be put on heavy rotation.
"That Tree" is from the More Malice: Deluxe Album & Movie which is dropping on March 23rd.
This is a re-release of the Malice N Wonderland album which will include 7 brand new tracks and a movie. I was a dumbass and downloaded the CLEAN version of Malice N Wonderland the first time around so I will definitely be copping this.
Damn dude! Relax! You are making me nervous just watching you! WTF! If I was one of the announcers, there is no way I would have been able to keep myself from making fun of this guy. I would have just lost it and started laughing my ass off. How can you ignore this madness like nothing happened?
I've never felt so uncomfortable watching a YouTube clip since the "Boom Goes the Dynamite" guy.
Even though the "Concords" and "Space Jams" get the most shine the "Cool Grey" colorway is arguably one of the most sought after of all the Air Jordan XI's. It was released in 2001 as an "original retro" meaning that even though the shoe was technically a retro, it had never released in the Cool Grey colorway the first time around.
Finding a pair of these in good condition is almost impossible unless you are willing to pay a ton of money from resellers. The re-release of the "Cool Grey" will make a lot of sneakerheads happy since they will finally have a chance to cop a pair of one of the more unique Air Jordan XI colorways that has ever been released. No official release date has been set but expect to see these drop around the 2010 Holiday Season.
It's been awhile since we last heard a Timbaland/JT collaboration so it's about time they hit us off with some new ish. The new joint is called "Carry Out" from Timabaland's Shock Value 2 album. I wasn't sure if I liked it when I first heard it but it's definitely growing on me and is probably one of my current favorite R&B tracks. The video is pretty dope too.
I'm hoping this motivates JT to put out a new album with Timbaland sometime soon. FutureSex/LoveSounds came out almost 4 years ago so it's about time for a new one. When these two get together, they always create some crazy music.
Woah! How the hell did they do that? And how did the Mascot walk away with the dancer without falling on his face? That chick must have only been like 5'2" and 90 lbs. for that to work.
I definitely think I'd like to be the dude in the mascot costume though. It's not often you get to eat a cheerleader...
This isn't the first time the NBA has used Auto-Tune for their "Where Amazing Happens" commercials (see Defense and Determination) but it might be the best. I just can't get enough of these. I hope they keep making them through the rest of the year. It's definitely a cool concept.
I haven't hit you off with a Hot Chick of the Week in awhile so I figured I would get my act together and give you something solid. Bar Rafaeli has been featured on DjRyB.com before and a chick this hot definitely deserves another post. Shoot. I think I might just feature her once a month! I found some solid videos and gathered them all here for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
Damn, these are hot! As you probably know, I'm already a huge fan of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII and they just keep getting better with every new colorway. I'm starting to think that you will be very disappointed in a few years if you don't add a pair to your collection now. This is one of those shoes that ages like a fine wine and gets better over time.
The latest and possibly greatest colorway is the Nike Air Max LeBron VII P.S. “POP” (above). It features a white upper with black patent leather on the mudguard along with an icy sole. If for some reason you didn't notice already, the "POP" is eerily similar to the Air Jordan XI "Concords" which is arguably the greatest sneaker of all time. This was also the shoe worn by Michael Jordan when he won the Bulls won the 95-96 NBA Championship. I highly doubt that was a coincidence.
"POP" supposedly stands for Playoff Pack and P.S. stands for Post Season. I'm not sure what the difference is just yet but I have a feeling the Post Season joints will be used in the first few rounds and the "POP"s will be used for the Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals. I think it only makes sense to save the best for last.
If you still haven't bought Wale's Attention Deficit you should make that happen ASAP. It's still one of the best Hip Hop albums of the past year and it's one of those albums that gets better with every listen. My favorite track currently just happens to be the latest single from the album:
"Pretty Girls" is a dope track that uses influences from the D.C. Go-Go Sound. Weensey from the legendary Go-Go band Backyard Band sings the infectious hook and absolutely crushes it. The song also samples Backyard Band's go-go rendition of The Moments and The Whatnauts track “Girls.”
The video for "Pretty Girls" is simple but it gets the job done. I like how they had a diverse range of chicks from big to small, dark to light and everywhere in between. This is definitely one of my favorite cuts off the album and you should expect to see it on Dj RyB Hip Hop Hits Volume 63.
It's not official yet but the trade of the Knicks' Nate Robinson to the Celtics in exchange for Eddie House and JR Giddens should be complete by the end of the day. It's been rumored for the past 2 or 3 days now so I'm pretty sure it's going down which is why I'm willing to talk about it now. There has been a lot of speculation that the Celtics were going to make some big moves before the deadline but this seems like the only thing that has turned out to be legit.
I wasn’t a huge fan of this trade at first but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Eddie House has not been playing great this season and when his shot is not falling, he really doesn't bring much else to the table. He can’t dribble, he can’t pass, his defense is pretty bad and overall he is just a terrible backup PG. He's really a SG in a PG body which is fine when we have a real PG running the offense but the Celtics don't have that this season. Robinson isn't exactly a real PG himself but he's forced into that role because of his size. He's at least a little more serviceable in that position.
House has hit some big shots for the Celtics in the past and it's tough to see him go but sometimes a change is necessary to re-energize the squad. The offense has been terrible of late and even though House can get hot at any time, he can't really create his own shot. Robinson is just as streaky as House and he can also get to the hoop much easier for a basket or an assist which could really help the second unit. I think there is just more all around potential in Robinson's game which is why I'm trying to stay positive about this move.
Nate is small at 5'8" but plays much bigger than that. He's also super athletic and brings a new energy to the second team which is something that is sorely needed right now. He can score in bunches, and when he gets hot, he can drain threes almost as well as House (just not as consistently). He also rebounds much more than you realize (a few 10 rebound games here and there) and plays some decent defense. He can even block big guys like Shaq and Yao once in awhile:
This isn't exactly going to help the C's win another Championship this season but it's a small risk that could pay off without losing much talent. He's only 26 and the C's definitely aren't getting any younger so if it works out, they have another young guy on the squad to help fill in some minutes for Rondo and Ray Allen.
I really don’t think he is as much of a head case as everyone makes him out to be but at the same time he could be a ticking time bomb. I guess we will find out. I feel like being on a losing team year after year can really mess you up in the head and cause you to do and say some stupid things out of frustration like the time he took a shot at his own basket:
It's not an excuse but at the same time, I can understand. When I’ve seen him in interviews, he seems like a decent dude and isn’t a complete dumbass like some of the other guys in the league. He was sitting with the announcers during the Rookie game last weekend for All Star Weekend and he seemed like he had his head on his shoulders. It could be an act but you can usually get a vibe on someone fairly quickly during something like that. He seems like a good guy and I am willing to give him a chance to prove himself before I make any quick judgments about his attitude.
I think he will be fine with the help of the older veterans in the locker room and I don’t see him causing any problems. Winning has a funny way of curing those types of issues pretty quickly. I think he just wants to win and will do whatever it takes to do get there. We will find out soon enough...
Snoop was all over NYC on February 4th to help introduce the new Adidas Originals Star Wars Collection. I might have to pick up a few of these kicks since I'm a big Star Wars fan but I'm not going to hold my breath since it seems like they are already impossible to get. Star Wards nerds and sneakerheads tend to overlap quite a bit so this is like the perfect storm for Adidas. I'm surprised they didn't think of this earlier.
Don't ask my why but this video kind of reminds me of when Snoop crushed the buildings in the "New York, New York" video. That is definitely an underrated classic!
Anyway, here's a look at some of my favorite kicks from the Adidas Star Wars Collection. You can check out all of the options at StarWars.com.
CopperCab is back and better than ever! This time he's requesting that Gingers and the people that love them create peaceful videos to support "Ginger Pride". Did he really just quote Martin Luther King Jr. to describe the plight of the ginger? Wow.
Incredibly, this kid has become a YouTube sensation in just a few short months. He posted this video on the 13th and he already has 350K views! Damn!
Here are two awesome fight videos that were discussed on the Opie and Anthony Show this morning. You gotta love the restraint by this guy in the first video. He just stands there with his arms folded and takes the harassment from this skinny little crackhead without even flinching.
This punk should have walked away once he saw this guy go into a fighting stance. It was game over from that point. Nothing is worse than getting knocked down by a guy with a beer belly with one punch/slap. I love how he could only crawl away too. What a little bitch.
This video should show people out there that just because someone is old doesn't mean that they still can't kick your ass. The chances are pretty high that someone this old was in a war, trained in combat and ready to give a beat down when they are provoked because they are crazy from all of that madness. Don't forget about old guy strength too. This dude probably knocks down trees and chops wood just for fun. You know you've officially been humiliated when an 67 year old gray beard with a fanny pack makes you bleed profusely with one punch.
I have to say, these People of Walmart Raps by JDirty are way better than I was expecting. He's not exactly the most lyrically gifted MC but he gets the job done. At least the dude could actually stay on beat unlike some of these other clowns out there making rap parody videos. Some of that shit is just painful.
To be honest though, I think I was actually more excited about someone gathering all of the best pics from PeopleofWalmart.com and putting them in a video. That must have taken HOURS to grab all of those pics! I could watch these videos all day, even without any sound. It's so much better than hitting "Next" every 30 seconds because there are only 4 posts per page to get their page views up. F*** that!!!
HAHAHAHAH!!!! Holy shit! I seriously think this is the funniest thing I've ever seen! I am still trying to catch my breath. It's just unbelievable! The height, distance and splash that this chick pulls off could never be matched. Whoever came up with the idea to use a Jet Ski to pull her along is absolutely brilliant. She had to have been going a good 40-50 MPH down that ramp!
"When she hit the water it was like a bomb went off or something."
HA HA! No shit! You can say that again dude! That must have shaken the ground within a 2 mile radius!
Check out this screen shot I was able to grab right as she landed in the water. Is that a cloud or just remnants of the explosion?!?!
LMFAO recently released a new shortened and edited version of their hit single "Shots" for every team in the NBA. They took out the references to alcohol and flipped the lyrics with basketball references. Nice! I'm surprised they didn't think of this sooner.
Although it might be a little late since the song has been out for awhile and is starting to lose steam, it should definitely help them sell a few more records. The "DJ" at the TD Garden is super wack so I'm assuming he will never play the Boston Celtics Edition but hopefully someone puts him on to it. I'm not holding my breath.
Yeah Baby!!! Pierce took home the 3-Point Shootout trophy just like he said he would! Dude was lobbying to get back into the 3-Point Contest all season long and he showed everyone why he deserved to be there. No one thought he had a chance based on his terrible showing a few years ago but he definitely proved everyone wrong. He might have been a little too cocky when he said "I think I'm one of the best shooters in NBA History" but we'll pretend that never happened. At least he's not lacking any confidence...
On top of that, Rondo did well against Kevin Durant in H-O-R-S-E but ended up losing in the end. It would have been nice to see them both win but either way, it was a nice showing. Let's hope the Celtics take something positive out of this All-Star Weekend and use it for the second half of the season. They will need everything they can get to help them get out of this rut.
Damn! That was way better than I expected! Actually, I don't really know what the hell I was expecting but commercials are so terrible and unoriginal these days. I guess I assumed it would just be another half-assed rap or some corny shit. This is the real deal though. I definitely wasn't expecting the crazy special effects. That's some hot ish!
I've been getting a lot of requests on iTunes for a new "Hit Pop" remix so I finally found some time to hit you off with some new ish. This one is probably more upbeat than usual but I think it does the job nicely. As always, this is an instant party starter and also a nice mix for getting your ass pumped up for a good workout. You'll hear everything ranging from Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Electro and House.
