12 Year Old Parkour Athlete Robbie Griffith (NICE)

This kid is pretty nasty doing this Parkour thing. It might be a little easier for him to bounce around because he is lighter and smaller so he can fit in weird places an adult may not but he still has to be pretty strong and athletic to pull some of these moves off. Impressive! All I can think of when I see a Parkour clip these days is that episode from 'The Office' though. Funny shit!

Santa Claus Hits His Beard on the Rim (OUCH)

I'm glad someone posted this on YouTube because I saw it quickly during the Rockets vs. Bulls game last night and didn't know if anyone else caught one of the Santa's drilling his face against the rim during the dunk routine at halftime or a timeout. That dude must have been hurting when he got back to the locker room. He either got cut up on the rim or lost a few teeth or something. That didn't look fun!

Blake Griffin's Sick Christmas Day Dunks vs. Nuggets (NASTY)

I only caught the first few minutes of this game last night before I passed out from a long Christmas Day so I'm kind of pissed I missed this nasty dunk from Mr. Griffin. He certainly didn't disappoint for anyone that stayed up late enough on the East Coast. He also had this nice alley oop from Chris Paul on the break. Dude is ridiculous.

The 12 Dunks of Christmas Plus Santa Throwing Down (COOL)

I might be a day late but you can never get enough dunks, especially when they are Christmas themed. I hate the "12 Days of Christmas" song but this one didn't irritate me as much for some reason. This was a nice treat from streetballer "Special FX". He also had this sick dunk over a bunch of kids dressed in Santa. Nice.

5th Grader Julian "Handles" Newman Starts for Varsity Basketball Team (CRAZY)

I thought this might just be a gimmick at first but after watching the video, it's apparent the kid can play. He's only 4'5" but he is quick as hell, can shoot and even get to the hoop and finish or dish to a teammate. He has the potential to be a really good player if he gets some height with age and also continues to develop as a true PG. He scored 17 pts. in his first Varsity game and also had another game where he had 14 points, 8 assists and 3 steals. That's insane!

Gerald Green's "Video Game Dunk" vs. Jazz (DAMN!)

I love that my boy Gerald Green is getting some decent playing time this year so we can get a few gems like this dunk last night against the Jazz. Dude is one of the best dunkers and jumpers in the league by far and he's also starting to get a jumper and play some D so he should stay in the league for good. He disappeared for a few but got his head straight and no all of us dunk fans are very happy once again. So nasty! Here are the top plays from last night's NBA games as well. Russell Westbrook had a nice hammer ham as well...

Blake Griffin's Off the Glass Alley Oop vs. Pistons (NICE)

This wasn't the craziest Blake Griffin dunk by any means but it was still nice enough to post. I think we are due for an insane BG dunk in the next few weeks. The Clippers are playing on Christmas Day (aka night) so maybe he'll break out some crazy shit as a nice gift to all NBA fans.

Bobcat Gerald Henderson Dunks on Dwight Howard (DAMN!)

Oh shit!!! Hide ya kids, hide ya wife! That was disgusting! I had no idea Gerald Henderson had hops like that. I think he got a little help on the push off and his momentum gave him an extra boost but it was still nasty. It looked like he was jumping off a trampoline like SlamBall! So sick. He was channeling his inner Blake Griffin on that one...

Key & Peele: Dueling Hats (FUNNY)

I don't watch Key & Peele as much as I should because it looks hysterical. My boy sent me over a few clips on YouTube today that were pretty damn funny. This was one of my favorites. So random but kind of true.

UDM's Doug Anderson Throws Down a Sick Half Court Alley Oop (WITH AUTHORITY!)

I have never heard of University of Detroit Mercy’s Doug Anderson until now but dude is officially on my sick dunker radar. This play took place Monday night against Alabama State so I can imagine about 30 people saw it live. I might have to put UDM's schedule on my fridge though so I can check a few of their games the rest of the season. Teammate Ray McCallum Jr. should get some credit too for a sick pass from about 60 feet or a little before the half court line. That's not an easy pass by any means. Shit was right on the money. Throw it down big fella!!!

T.I. ft. Cee-Lo Green - 'Hello' (SMOOTH)

Here's another dope new track from T.I. from the upcoming Trouble Man album.  From what I've heard so far, this is going to be another killer album from T.I. that could be similar to some of his past classics.  I also liked hearing Cee-Lo on a real Hip Hop track since it's been awhile.  His voice is made for this type of smooth joint...

Amir Johnson's Bizarre Ejection During Raptors/Blazers Game (STRANGE)

Either Amir Johnson is a little crazier than I thought or NBA ref David Jones was making some bad calls or bating him all game long in order to get a reaction like that.  Dude lost his mind and chucked his mouth guard at the ref in one of the more bizarre ejections you will see.

DMX sings Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (AWESOME)

This is one of the best videos I've seen in awhile.  I had no idea what to expect but DMX killed it with his rendition of Rudolph.  He even went in with the table drums and shit!  HA HA.  You gotta love this dude!  He's tapped but he's entertaining as hell.

Brooklyn Nets/Boston Celtics Fight - Rondo vs. Humphries (SCRAPPY DOO)

I'm not sure it was necessary for Rondo to instigate this fight considering he had nothing to do with the original hard foul but I like his willingness to stick up for his teammate and go up against a big guy.  I was at this game last night and it was the one thing that didn't make it a completely horrible game, considering the C's played like garbage and got crushed.

I thought Rondo getting ejected would fire up the team but it didn't really do much, unfortunately.  The crowd did get pretty into it though and started a "Let's Go Celtics" chant like the old Garden whenever there was a fight so that was kind of cool.

It sucks that Rondo's assist streak was ended on something dumb like this but I think it was time.  There was too much attention and pressure being put on a meaningless record.  The C's need to start winning some games instead.  They have looked like shit for most of the season and need to get going.

Harrison Barnes' Sick Dunk Against the TWolves from 5 Angles (NASTY)

That's what's up!  This has to be one of the best dunks of the young season so far.  It just keeps getting better from every angle.  NASTY!!!

50 Cent ft. Eminem & Adam Levine - 'My Life' (NICE)

Woah!  I was not expecting a new 50 and Em collabo but I'm glad they got together again because this track is sick.  It sounds like 50 stepped his game up a lot after dropping a ton of lackluster songs and albums over the past few years.  It sounds like he is motivated to rap again, finally.  It's nice to hear that Em is still rapping with some fire too. He's in a nice zone and I hope he stays there.  Dope track!

T.I. Ft Andre 3000 - 'Sorry' (DOPE)

New shit from T.I. and Andre 3000!  Sick collabo and the beat and hook are on point.  Both of them brought the heat too.  Solid.

BassBuds 2012 Classic Collection Headphones (REVIEW)

Before I get to the review, I thought I'd hit you off with the good stuff first. BassBuds has allowed me to offer a $30 discount off the price of their classic and fashion collections for the holiday season!

This is an unbelievable savings off of the already affordable price of $85 so take advantage of this while it lasts. I've tried almost every headphone and earphone on the market and these compete with or beats almost all of them.  $55 for such a high quality product is an absolute steal!

Here's what you need to do to get the discount.  Visit their site:
http://www.bassbuds.net/usa/

Enter the following Discount Code at checkout to receive $30.00 off:
Discount Code: BB59783

You already know that I'm a big fan of the BassBuds brand earphones so you already have my endorsement but if you'd like some more detailed information on the product, check out my review below.

I consider myself a headphone connoisseur since I am constantly reading reviews on the latest and greatest styles and I also buy at least 2 or 3 pairs a year.  I think it's the DJ in me that is always in pursuit of that perfect sound which combines clear highs, solid mids and deep bass.  I very rarely find a headphone that lives up to my high standard and almost never find an in-ear style headphone that keeps me interested for more than a few minutes.

STYLE
I received the BassBuds Classic Platinum Style earphones (above) to review a few days ago.  They are very slick looking with the light grey wiring and platinum colored earbuds.  The Swarovski Crystal elements also bring a funkiness you won't find on any other brand.

I actually appreciated the uniqueness after a few days, especially when I got some looks on the street and a few people even complimented me on their look.  I think everyone is so sick of seeing the same Beats by Dre or Apple phones that they appreciate something new and funky.  If you want subtle, these might not be for you.  The crystal Swarovski elements won't exactly allow you to stay incognito but if you can handle the brightness and a few weird looks then these might be for you.

One of the best features that will probably go unnoticed by most is the anti-tangling wiring.  This is much harder to find on high end headphones than you would think.  Most companies still cheap out on the wiring and go with the rubber style that gets into a tangled mess way too easily and usually break down before the headphones run their lifespan.  You can tell these will last a long time and won't be an issue for a long time.  It's a thicker quality that you can feel and see.

SOUND
I had a little trouble with the original earbuds that were connected since they kept falling out which was a little bit annoying.  This also wasn't helping with the sound quality but when I pushed them all the way in it made a huge difference.  I don't know if I have weird shaped ear canals but I always find it difficult to keep earphones in my ear without constantly pushing them in our by buying a third party insert or foam piece that keeps them more in place.  Luckily, they included a variety of options and sizes for me to choose from and I ended up with Large foam earbuds which fit snugly in my ear and also increased the noise isolation and bass.

I loved having all of these accessories included right out of the box.  That is a great extra value right there that I wish more companies would pay attention to this small detail.  I think a lot of people might give up on or return some decent quality earphones because the standard size they receive doesn't fit our sound good so you really need a few different options.  Every ear is different and BassBuds understands that!

I was thoroughly impressed after listening to just a few different songs.  I'm big on bass heavy music such as Hip Hop, Electro and House so it was nice to see that these could keep up with those genres without a hiccup.  I turned up the volume to test their limits and there really wasn't a level that they couldn't handle.  It got to the point where my ears couldn't handle the volume but the sound was still crystal clear and there was no distorted bass which is one of the few headphones I've ever tested that could handle that.  As BassBuds puts it on their site: "experience superior sound quality of  High Definition crystal clear Advanced Crystaltronics Sound Technology."   Sounds dope to me!  Literally and figuratively.

BassBuds are fully compatible with all smartphones and have an in-line MP3 controller to change songs without having to reach for your phone.  It also includes a high quality microphone and you can answer calls with just the click of the controller.  Very solid feature!

BassBuds is a UK based company so they are making their mark on the other side of the pond currently but you can order and ship to the US through their website www.bassbuds.net/usa.

The price for the units I tested is about $85 after the exchange rate.  That is a solid price based on what I've seen and heard.  I would expect these BassBuds to go for $150 or more when compared to similar quality units.  I fully expect BassBuds to make an impact in the US very soon and I expect them to take some market share from some of the other companies that have been selling too many overpriced, lower quality headphones.  They will need to step up their quality once people get their first listen of BassBuds headphones and realize they can get high quality sound at a competitive price.

Grinnell College's Jack Taylor Scores 138 Points in Win (WTF?!?!)

This is crazy!  I still can't wrap my head around this performance.  Jack Taylor of Division III Grinnell College scored 138 points in a single game against Faith Baptist last night which is absolute insanity.  He also took 108 shots and 71 three pointers in order to get there which is equally insane.  I didn't think it was possible to take that many shots in a game by a team, yet alone one person but I guess anything is possible.

Last year, on almost the exact same day, Taylor's Grinnell College teammate Griffin Lentsch shattered the Division III scoring record with 89 points.  Taylor just crushed that by 59 points!  No one is touching that anytime soon. Wow!!!

The craziest part about this game in my opinion isn't even getting that much attention due to Taylor's performance.  Even though they lost the game, Faith Baptist's David Larson had a ridiculous 70 points on 34 of 44 shots.  That is almost more impressive in my eyes.  Larson was way more efficient and took almost a third less shots to get close to half as many points.  No matter how you look at it, this was a historic performance to say the least.  RIDICULOUS!

Sam Gordon's Pee Wee Football Highlights (LITTLE GIRL OWNING THE BOYS)

This little girl Sam Gordon is NASTY!  Not only does she play with the boys and hold her own like some other girls but she is also running circles around them and making them look dumb.  She can't be stopped!

Her breakaway speed is untouchable and her juke moves and ability to see the holes are unreal.  Her stats are also ridiculous.  She must be scoring almost every time she touches the ball!  So sick!

232 carries
1,911 yards
8.2 yards per carry
35 touchdowns

Terrence Jones Posterizes Jodie Meeks (NASTY)

That might have been a charge but I'm glad the refs made it a no call because Meeks seemed like he slid underneath Jones as he was already taking off.  It could have also been an And 1 but they let them play.  NASTY!

Jeff Teague Posterizes Kevin Durant (DAMN!)

I knew Jeff Teague of the Atlanta Hawks was fast and athletic since he is one of the few PG's in the league that can keep up with Rondo but I forgot he also has some impressive hops.  He just made Durant look dumb on that dunk.  Sick!

Nas ft. Amy Winehouse - "Cherry Wine" (DOPE)

This is some dope shit right here!  I'm loving all of the new Nas joints from the Life is Good album.  Dude has found his wheelhouse again with the jazz type samples that remind me of Illmatic.  Grown folk Hip Hop.  I need to go back and give this album another listen because I definitely haven't had it on rotation enough.  I'm slacking...

LeBron's Samsung Galaxy Note II Commercial (ANNOYING)

Just when I was starting to come around on LeBron and starting to like him again, he goes and makes a ridiculous commercial like this and takes it all back. I thought he had finally matured and didn't make everything all about him after finally winning a championship and maturing on and off the court but this commercial just ruined everything.

We get it.  You won a championship, LeBron.  Hooray for you.  Everyone give him a trophy for winning the trophy.  Blah.  If you watched the Celtics/Heat game last night then you saw this and similar commercials approximately 45 times each.  Ridiculous.

Anyway, I found a way to flip it and make it post worthy because of the soundtrack.  Samsung used the classic "Keep on Pushing" bt The Impressions.  Here is the full song:

I immediately thought of Bun B's "Pushin'" which uses this as a sample.  It's one of my favorite Bun B songs and possibly one of my favorite Hip Hop tracks from the past 5+ years.  It doesn't get much better than this:

Terrell Owens Vs Mani Love! "The Smallest Streetballer" (SICK HANDLE)

This is a super random video but it was entertaining enough to get posted.  I never heard of Mani Love until now but I am officially a big fan of the little man.  Dude has a sick handle and is quick as f#%$!  You might be able to block his shot easier in theory because he's so short but it's never going to happen if you can't catch him.  He also keeps the ball so low to the ground that there is no way in hell you are going to steal the ball either.  He made T.O. look dumb a few times there too.  Nice!

Thomas Robinson Putback Dunk "Over" Dwight Howard - Kings @ Lakers

Thomas Robinson has better hops than I thought.  That was a NASTY putback dunk over Dwight Howard in last night's preseason game.  I don't care if Dwight wasn't really looking or trying that hard to get the board but he was still in the vicinity so that counts.  Learn how to box out, Dwight!

Barack Obama vs Mitt Romney: Epic Rap Battles Of History Season 2 (SOLID)

This is way better than I was expecting.  Well played...

Inside Stephen Jackson's Sneaker Closet (BOXES FULL OF J's)

So this is what it's like to be a Jordan Brand athlete?  DAMN!  I am jealous as shit.  That is just nasty.  Stephen Jackson's closest is nicely stocked and just when you think he's done, you get a look at the rest of his collection in the basement which is just out of control.

How awesome would it be to have Jordan send you multiple boxes of J's all at the same time and way before their release date?  Heat for days!  I guess the closest I'll ever get to this is being part of the Jordan Brand team is with my player in NBA 2K13.  Oh well...

Jeremy Evans Owns Ronny Turiaf On Both Ends (BLOCK, DUNK, TIP)

First off, I had no idea Jeremy Evans won the Slam Dunk Contest last year but it makes a little more sense after seeing this awesome display of athleticism on both the defensive and offensive ends of the floor. Dude got INSANELY high on that block of Ronny Turiaf but instead of giving up there, he went and got the rock and then posterized Turiaf on the other end with a sick dunk.  He didn't stop there though, as he ran down the other end of the court and tipped a pass. That's hustle right there. Impressive.

Lupe Fiasco Recalls His Extraterrestrial Experience (INTERESTING)

It's cool to hear someone in Hip Hop admitting to a UFO experience.  I feel like most of those dudes are too afraid to admit shit like this because they are afraid it will make them look soft or people will think they are crazy.  Lupe put it out there in a calm way and you definitely want to believe him because of that.  Why would he make this up?  I guess it would be to get some publicity but I don't think he really needs it.  It's definitely interestingt.

Glen "Big Baby" Davis Release Rap Song Called "Gon' Turn It Up (AWFUL)

I’m so glad the Celtics got rid of this clown last year.  I used to talk myself into liking him since he was on the team and he showed flashes of being a great player but he was just too much of a headcase to last long term.  He thought he was better than he really was and he wanted the ball and to start on a Championship team where he hadn't earned that right yet.  After he punched a bathroom stall and broke his hand right before the season started two years ago, I officially had enough.

There is no way this was a joke on his part and he probably thinks it sounds awesome. It's like a bad version of Flo Rida, T-Pain and David Guetta all mixed into one.  I've heard worse from athletes but this is right up there with worst athlete decisions of all time.  Dude is delusional.

STONE COLD E.T. at White Castle (SUPER RANDOM BUT FUNNY)

This makes absolutely no sense but it's funny as hell.

Insane Dodge Ball Kill (KUNG FU MADNESS)

I might be a little late to the game on this video since it's been floating around for the past week or so but it's worth a post because it is an insane move.  I would never normally get too excited about a Dodgeball play but this one was too crazy to ignore.  Whoever filmed it did a horrible job of editing since the first minute or so was a waste of time but it actually worked because of the dramatic ending.  I almost bailed early but I'm glad I stayed in there because it was worth it.  That was some Neo from the Matrix type shit!  Crazy!

Mr. Green "Live from the Streets" featuring Janice and Jus Allah (CRAZY)

I've known about Mr. Green and his magical beats for a little while now but I never knew about his "Live from the Streets" YouTube series until someone put me on to it earlier this week.  It's definitely one of the more creative things I've seen in regards to production and beat making in a long time.  Mr. Green walks around the city looking for unique sounds and inspirations and he ends up with an amazing finished product.  The concept isn't new since producers have been doing this since the beginning of Hip Hop but seeing it happen in "real time" makes it coll as shit.

The two vids I liked the most were the one above with singer Janice and Jus Allah and this one here with Chiller Theater and Young Zee. This dude is mad talented and I can't wait to watch more of his videos and listen to more of his songs.

Jason Terry Learns the Boston Accent (AMUSING)

This could have been funnier if everyone interviewed hadn't fallen back on the cliche "Pahk the Cah in Hahvahd Yahd" but I still like Jason Terry's energy, personality and willingness to mingle with the Boston people and learn our awful accent.  It reminds me of two years ago when Shaq was out and about in Harvard Square acting like a statue or just walking around making friends with random people.

Jason Terry seems like a good dude and I think he is going to be one of the fan favorites instantly this year.  I'm loving his logo on his Reebok tee too.  I need one of those!

I can't believe the NBA season is already here.  The Celtics play their first exhibition game tonight in Turkey as part of a multi-game European tour.  Sweet!

Lil Wayne Owns Lawyer During Legal Deposition (FUNNY)

Lil Wayne might have acted like a complete asshole during this deposition but he was still pretty damn funny.  The lawyer was definitely asking some dumb questions so I can understand why Weezy was getting annoyed.

Snoop Dogg "Interviews" Action Bronson (FUNNY ISH)

This is one of the best Hip Hop interviews I've seen in a long time.  Random but entertaining.  Snoop asks some solid questions and Action Bronson gave some awesome answers.  I had no idea that Action Bronson has only been seriously rapping for about a year and he was also a cook or some shit before.  Dude is nuts but I like him...

I would love to hear these two make a track together.  I'm not sure how it would sound but sometimes the craziest and most random collabos make the best music.

Downhill Skateboarder Collides with Deer at 40 MPH (OUCH)

This is super random but I thought it was worth posting up because it was a crazy video.  The dude who hit the deer is lucky it wasn't a bigger one with those crazy sharp antlers or his ass could have gotten impaled or straight up chopped off.  Crazy!

Action Bronson - 'Brunch' (CRAZY VIDEO)

One of my boys put me on to Action Bronson a few months ago and I was blown away that he wasn't more well known.  Dude has some serious skills.  He obviously sounds A LOT like Ghostface Killah but he still has enough of his own style that it's OK.  Ghostface has even acknowledge the similarities but also gave A.B. his blessing since he appreciates his skills.

I heard "Brunch" on Shade45 on Sirius the other day so it seems like he is starting to gain some notoriety commercially which is cool.  Definitely keep a look out for him...

Watch DMX Hilariously Use Google for the First Time

It's crazy to think that a rapper doesn't know how to use a computer or the internet considering they need the internet more than ever to sell records and connect with fans but DMX is not your typical rapper.  When he doesn't want to do something, he is one defiant mofo.  There's no way this was fake.  That was just X being X.  Funny shit.

iPhone 5 "Will It Dunk?" w/ Knicks' Iman Shumpert (FUNNY)

I thought this was going to be kind of stupid at first but Iman Shumpert brought some humor to it and ended up making a solid video.  It sucks that he had to destroy a nice new iPhone 5 to make the video but it was worth it.  Funny shit!

Monday, September 24, 2012

Titan Nate Washington's Amazing Catch vs. Lions (SICK)

This has to be at the top of the list for Catch of the Year so far.  There have been a few nice grabs this year already but this one has to be one of the most difficult.  That was some incredible concentration by Nate Washington to stick with the ball even though he had to basically jump over and take it away from the defender.  Nicely done!

Nasty 6'1" Ukraine Dunker Dmitry Krivenko aka "Smoove" (MAD HOPS)

I don't get too excited about new dunkers these days since I feel like we've seen almost everything you can possibly do but this dude Dmitry Krivenko aka "Smoove" got me all fired up because of his creativity and execution on some really difficult dunks.  Plus, he made it look easy so I guess it's safe to say his nickname is warranted.

How about the behind the back, over the head and between the legs dunk at the end?!?!  DAMN!!!  Can we get some amateurs in the NBA Dunk Contest already?  Dudes like this need to get recognized on a bigger stage...

Maury High School's Davion Taylor Breaks 11 Tackles on 99 Yard kickoff Return (BEAST MODE)

At full speed, I thought this was a solid run but nothing too crazy that we haven't seen before.  Then I saw it in slow motion and had a better appreciation of how nasty this kick return really was.  This kid Taylor was making people dive and miss like it was a game of Tecmo Bowl and he was Bo Jackson.  So nasty!!!  Very impressive.

"Air Up There" Dunks Over EXTRA's Maria Menounos (RANDOM)

There's nothing that special about this dunk since "Air Up There" could do this with his eyes closed but then he would miss out on Maria Menounos' hot body as he jumped over her.  If you can jump as high as this dude, it's nothing jumping over a 5'6" chick.

More than anything, I just wanted an excuse to post some pictures of Maria's fine ass...

Funny Ish from NFL Week 1 (LOWLIGHTS)

I guess there were more than a few people that were a little rusty in Week 1 of the NFL season.  In the video above, Vernon Davis stuffed himself on the crossbar after a failed "dunk" attempt.  That was on Sprite commercial type ish!

I'm not even sure how this one happened but Browns Rookie QB Brandon Weeden gets caught underneath the huge American Flag that the military was breaking out for the national anthem.  I don't know whether to blame Weeden for not warming up in the right place or blame the guys breaking out the flag and not even looking before they started running.  Either way, it was pretty funny.

Finally, my boy Gronk looks like he needs to practice his famous Gronk Spike a little bit more since he fumbled it on one of his touchdowns from Sunday against the Titans.  I think the Summer of Gronk may have had something to do with his rustiness.  Dude was EVERYWHERE!

Jay-Z ft. Pearl Jam - "99 Problems" Live from Made In America Festival (CRAZY)

The audio quality on this isn't the greatest but it's still pretty cool to see this crazy collabo of Jay-Z and Pearl Jam.  This took place at the Made in America Festival during Labor Day weekend.  Nice!

Kanye West ft. Big Sean & Jay-Z - "Clique" (NEW ISH)

Hot shit right here!  This track is sick all around but the highlight is definitely Jay-Z's verse.  He brought the heat on this one but Kanye wasn't too far behind either.  I'm really feeling the beat too.  It has multiple layers and keeps building and getting more hype with each verse.  Dope!

"This is SportsCenter" - John Clayton Rocks a Mullet and Slayer Shirt (FUNNY)

John Clayton is the man when it comes to NFL news but he's kind of a dork.  I actually want to believe this is what he's like in real life once the cameras are off.  Too funny!

BassBuds 2012 Fashion Collection Headphones (REVIEW)

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to review a set of BassBuds headphones which I was more than happy to do.  I wasn't sure what to think since I had never heard of the brand but I'm always willing to give everyone a chance to impress me.

When I first received the BassBuds, I was very impressed with the packaging.  I was a little worried that they were more concerned with the look and style than the actual sound but I was pleasantly surprised in just a few short minutes.   I'll get there in a minute.

In regards to the actual style, I received the 2012 Fashion Collection's 'Smooth' which is a royal blue with white earbuds and a brownish copper wiring.  Blue is my favorite color so that worked out well but I wasn't a huge fan of the wire color at first.  I would have preferred all blue or black wiring but I will admit the copperish color grew on me and I soon realized it worked well with the blue.  I think I just wasn't used to seeing something that different since most headphones I've seen are either white or black wiring.

I actually appreciated the uniqueness after a few days, especially when I got some looks on the street and a few people even complimented me on them.

Regardless of the color, one of the best features of the wiring was the anti-tangling (is that a word?) awesomeness which is harder to find on high end headphones than you would think.  Most companies still cheap out on the wiring and go with the rubber style that gets into a tangled mess way too easily and usually break down before the headphones run their lifespan.  You can tell these would last a long time and won't be an issue in the near future.

Now on to the sound.  I had a little trouble with the original earbuds that were connected since they kept falling out which was a little bit annoying.  This also wasn't helping with the sound quality but when I pushed them all the way in I could tell they had some potential.  Luckily, they included a variety of options and sizes for me to choose from and I ended up with Large foam earbuds which fit snugly in my ear and also increased the noise isolation and bass.

BassBuds is a UK based company so they are making their mark on the other side of the pond currently but you can order and ship to the US through their website www.bassbuds.net

Pricing is in UK Pounds but the price for the units I tested is about $85 after the exchange rate.

Kendrick Lamar - "Swimming Pools (Drank)" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

This is my new shit right here!  I've been bumpin' this for the past few weeks more than any other song out there right now.  It doesn't sound like anything else which is refreshing and it's just a dope ass song.  I've been following Kendrick Lamar for a little while now and he keeps getting better with time. I think he is going to be the next big thing in the Hip Hop scene over the next year or so. We need a new voice and style and I think he has it.

I also like his other recent joint "The Recipe" featuring Dr. Dre but satellite radio kind of killed it for me a few weeks ago when it was played every other song on all of the Hip Hop channels for some reason.  It's still a dope song though.

The Phillie Phanatic Gets Down with the Jabbawockeez (FUNNY)

Funny shit! The Phanatic's got some moves!

Rondo's Got Hops (CONFIRMED)

DAMN!  I knew Rondo could get up but this is some next level type ish.  He's obviously been training hard this summer.  He also looks like he's put on some serious muscle on his upper body which he is going to need to get more effective against bigger PG's.  Good stuff.

DJ Paul - 'What I Look Like (W.I.L.L.)' (HOT)

Not everyone is a fan of the Three 6 Mafia sound but for some reason I love almost everything they put out.  They just make grimy fight music.  You can't help but nod your head aggressively and then start a fight with the next person that gets in your way.  Shit is intense to say the least.  This new DJ Paul track does not disappoint.  I can't wait to bump this through the speakers later...

Y.N.RichKids - 'Hot Cheetos & Takis' (AWESOME)

If this doesn't put you in a good mood, I don't know what will.  These little dudes rocked it!  I can't get this out of my head.  "Snack, Snack, Snack, Crunch!  Snack, Snack, Snack, Munch!"

B.o.B ft. André 3000 - 'Play The Guitar' (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

B.o.B. never fails to impress me with his creativity which is something I wish other wack ass rappers would actually think about and do themselves but most are too lazy these days.  Andre 3000 was definitely an influence on B.o.B. as an artist, so it's cool to hear both of them on the same track.  They sound perfect together and I hope they continue to collaborate in the future.  Dopeness!

Trey Songz & Young Jeezy Debut 'Hail Mary' Live at Club Play on SouthBeach (DOPE)

I wasn't expecting to like this new Young Jeezy track since most of his new ish has been annoying me lately but he got my attention with this video and the song quickly grew on me.  Although most of his hardcore fans would prefer his grimier shit, I actually like most of his commercial shit better because he actually makes an attempt to talk about shit other than coke and drug dealing, at least once in awhile.  Trey Songz definitely made this song though.  Nice work on the hook.

Stuff NFL Free Agents Say by Anthony "Spice" Adams (FUNNY ISH)

Former NFL Defensive Tackle Spice Adams is currently unemployed and is waiting to hear from ANY team to get a chance to play this season.  He decided to put together this clip of what it's like to be waiting for that phone call and what you do with all of the downtime and it ended up being pretty damn funny.  I was loving the P90X part.  That's exactly how I felt when I started it.  Shit is rough!  I can't imagine how much that would suck for a dude that size...

Rick Ross feat. Dr. Dre and JAY Z - "3 Kings" MMG Visual Piece (DOPE)

It's a little aggressive for Rick Ross to be putting himself in the same category as Dre and Jay as one of the "3 Kings" but this is still a dope track and a nice "visual video" to go along with it. I thought it was kind of cool to see all of the old clips from throughout their careers and use it as the video.  As someone in the comments said, maybe this would have been better titled as "Two and a Half Kings".

Jay-Z Named Executive Producer of NBA 2K13 (NICE!)

NBA 2K13 already sounds like it's stacking up to be one of my favorite games of all time and I barely know a thing about it other than from what's in this video. All I know is that it's got my favorite rapper, Jay-Z, I'm assuming there will be a heavy feature of my favorite basketball player, Michael Jordan based on what they've done the past few years and I'm sure the gameplay and graphics will be even better than 2K12 even though it's almost impossible to improve on that. What I'm trying to say in my babbling is that I'm really looking forward to this damn game!

Just to fill you in with a few more details, Jay-Z has been tapped to be the Executive Producer for NBA 2K13. Jay-Z will oversee the soundtrack and I'm sure it will have a ton of his own music, sprinkled with other Rocafella and Def Jam artists and maybe a few others. I'm sure he won't have to do much real work and they are really just using his name as a way to help with sales but I can't blame him or EA Sports for agreeing to it. I'm sure it will help sell more games which is the main goal. I'm looking forward to hearing more...

Katt Williams - "Poor Little Tink Tink" (OLYMPICS COMEDY)

I'm not going to do an Olympic preview or anything like that since I only know about the USA Men's Basketball team and a few Track & Field events but I thought the timing was right for this classic Katt Williams clip.

A few years ago, Oscar Pistorius was just some dude that was competing in running events as a double amputee but now he will be competing in the London Olympics. That's pretty impressive and an awesome story but that doesn't mean that this skit isn't funny as hell.

I'd love to see an update from Katt after the Olympics but that dude has gone off the deep end lately and disappeared from the mainstream. Maybe "Tink Tink" in the Olympics will give him some new material and get him going again.

Zedd - 'Spectrum' A-Trak & Clockwork Remix (DOPE)

I guess Zedd's 'Spectrum' has been blowing up over the past few weeks but I hadn't even heard the original until yesterday when I saw the link to this remix in A-Trak's newsletter. This remix is DOPE and the original is pretty sick too. Everything I hear from A-Trak these days is quality. Here's the original:

NBA Summer League Dunks from Christian Eyenga & Damian Lillard (BEAST MODE)

There were a couple of nice dunks from the NBA Summer League last night. The first was this ridiculous facial from the Lakers' Christian Eyenga. He also had another one later in the game that was pretty solid as well. Damian Lillard of the Blazers also had his own nasty facial on the Hawks when he went hard to the hoop in traffic. Sick!

Is Michelle Jenneke the Hottest Hurdler Ever? (SMOKESHOW!)

Shake it, baby! This is the first time I've ever seen 19-year-old Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke but I think I am already one of her biggest fans. I love hot athletic chicks and if you dance and jump up and down before the race and shake what ya momma gave you, even better. Ain't nothing wrong with that at all. This video is of Jenneke at the IAAF World Championships in Barcelona. She won't be at the Olympics this year, unfortunately but I'm sure we will be seeing more of her real soon. Love her!

Sick Dunk from Ben Wallace Pro-Am League (RIDICULOUS)

Wow! That was insane! I wasn't even sure how the ball got to the rim ate first until I realized he bounced it first, went around the defender and then caught it on the other side for a nasty 180 dunk. This craziness came from Guard Angelo Sharpless of Division II Elizabeth City State University during the Ben Wallace Summer Pro-Am game in Richmond this past weekend. RIDICULOUS!!!

Toyota Corolla Commercial: Shoes with Pandora (NICE)

I just saw this commercial for the first time last night. Definitely right up my alley. That is exactly what I do every morning when I'm trying to match up my kicks to my outfit. Gotta stay fresh! The old lady at the end really pulled it all together too. Great commercial...

Fabolous "Swag Champ 24/7" Official Video (FUNNY ISH)

Fabo kills it in this video for "Swag Champ 24/7". It's a combination of some sick metaphors in the song, along with some extra color commentary along the way by Fabo and his "Swag Coach". It's mostly tongue in cheek but you can tell that Fabo believes a lot of what he's saying at the same time. My favorite parts were his 'makin' it rain' training techniques, as well as what he does when the money calls...literally. He also had a killer line using my man Rondo as the subject: "I hate to see y'all bend backwards, Rondo, elbow." It sounds ridiculously simple but once you take a step back and think about the double meaning, you'll realize it's a killer line. Here's the audio only version of the song, as well as another version of the video in case the one from YouTube gets pulled:

La Coka Nostra - "Mind Your Business" Produced by DJ Premier (DOPE)

Damn! This is some dirty shit right here. La Coka Nostra is a perfect fit for this dope Premo beat. These guys need to just do an album together already because they are a perfect mix. La Coka Nostra's new album Masters of the Dark Arts is set to release on July 31st. I'm looking forward to another banger...

Slaughterhouse ft. Cee Lo Green - "My Life" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

I posted the audio for this a few weeks back but now there is an official video for your viewing pleasure. I liked this song when I first heard it and I think I like it even more now that I've heard it a few times. Some hardcore Slaughterhouse fans will be disappointed with the commercial route they took on this one but I think it's a smart move. In order to push some units and get your name out there to some new fans, you have to get something that will have some radio and video rotations. Em was always able to play both sides of the table and I think Slaughterhouse can do the same with his direction. I'm definitely looking forward to the new studio album Welcome to Our World which is due out on July 10th on Shady Records. Should be a banger.

"Psh" (FUNNY ISH)

I haven't posted a random vid in awhile but this one definitely earned it. The concept is so simple, yet so effective. I'm surprised no one thought of doing this before. I fully expected it do be dumb as hell but once I saw who these dudes were doing it to, I had a new found respect for them. They are lucky they didn't get shanked on the streets of Venice. There are some serious shady ass characters out there! People have been doing the "Psh" thing for years but no one ever seemed to point it out in such an awesome way. These dudes are dressed like bums but they have an insane amount of unwarranted arrogance that only Kenny Powers could rival. Classic.

The Game Gets His Ankles Broken and Chris Brown's Alley Oop to John Wall at Drew League

I didn't realize that the Drew League had already started up again but I guess it's about that time as the summer is basically here now. I just assumed they waited for the NBA Finals to finish since some NBA players are in the league but I guess there's no reason to hold off since most of the league has been in the offseason for awhile now. The video above of Chris Brown throwing a sick oop to John Wall for a reverse dunk was solid. Chris Brown has some serious game himself and if he hand't gotten into singing at an early age, I think he might have been able to play some college ball on some level. Kid has a nice handle and some decent hops. Below is The Game getting crossed up which lead to his ankles getting shattered and falling down on his ass. Ironically, The Game actually has some decent game himself but he's gotten out of shape over the years from smoking all that weed and drinking and living an easy celebrity life. I'm pretty sure I heard he could have played some college at one point too.

Ludacris - "Jingalin'" prod. by Da Internz (NEW ISH)

It's nice to hear some new ish from Ludacris. I'm kind of feeling this new joint because it's got a creative sound and he brings the witty lyricism as usual. This was one of my favorite lines: "That girl Hella bad, I wanna pop Hella cash. The way that booty propels, I might need a helipad...or a landing strip ain't no need to panic Trick, drop that apple bottom right down on my banana split!" I also liked the homage he paid to LL's "Jingling Baby" in the beginning and then flipped it for something new.

Anchorman 2 Trailer (SWEET)

After years of rumors of a sequel, the real deal is finally upon us. This trailer doesn't show too much about the actual movie but at least it's confirmation that it's actually happening. If it's even a fraction as funny as the original, it will be awesome. A new goofy comedy has been sorely needed for a few years now. Can't wait.

Jay Pharoah's Stephen A. Smith Spoof on Saturday Night Live (NICE)

The content might not be the funniest but this impersonation of Stephen A. Smith is DEAD ON. Most people watching SNL probably didn't have any clue who he was even imitating since it was kind of an obscure sports reference but I certainly appreciated it. Jay Pharoah needs to get some more shine because his Hip Hop and Sports impersonations are solid.

Nas - "The Don" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Here's the video for Nas' dope new joint, "The Don". I love the uniqueness and creativity on this one. I'm glad Nas did what he wanted and went for something different instead of making the same old crap that everyone is putting out these days. Dope shit.

J.R. Smith's RIDICULOUS Dunk Last Night vs. Heat (

If you watched the game last night or SportsCenter this morning, you definitely saw this nasty dunk by JR Smith but even if you have, it's worth another look because it was RIDICULOUS! At first it appeared as if he was going to go up for a reverse layup. Then he was able to twist his body to get closer to the rim but he started fading away so it looked like it might be a Sprite commercial remake but he almost got a second boost out of nowhere and threw that shit down hard! So nasty! That was on some video game type ish! This is officially one of the best Playoff dunks of all time. No question.

Slaughterhouse ft. Cee-Lo - "My Life" (DOPE)

This is a little more commercial than normal for the Slaughterhouse crew but I still think this dope. It's some of the best new shit I've heard in awhile. Finally someone is putting out some new ish for the Hip Hop game because it is extremely stale right now, I think Em is probably trying to get these dudes a decent radio hit so they can get some sales on their first Shady Records album. Not a bad strategy at all. As long as it's not some dance beats with Rihanna on the hook, I'm all for it. More people need to know about these dudes. They are sick!

Tony Allen's Unintentional Globetrotter Fake Pass (FUNNY)

Every so often while watching a Celtics game, I'll see a missed defensive assignment or someone will be torching them for 30-40 points and I start thinking about how it would be nice to still have Tony Allen as a defensive stopper. Then I'll see a "highlight" like this one and remember what a nightmare he can be on the offensive end. There is no way this pass was on purpose but it ended up working out pretty well.

R2-D2's Other Message (2PAC's HOLOGRAM STRIKES BACK)

I should have seen this coming. It's seems too obvious now. Funny shit!

2Pac Performs Live At Coachella (SAY WHAT!?!?)

This is insane! If I didn't hear people talking about it on the radio this morning, I would have though that this was real and 2Pac was back! Shit is crazy! I guess the 3D effects that they used to create this "living" version of 2Pac cost over $10 million! Damn. It seems totally worth it to get Pac back, even if for just a few minutes.

'Ted' The Movie Trailer (LOOKS AWESOME)

You may have seen this already since the trailer has been buzzin' over the past few weeks but here it is again just in case you missed it. I had actually only seen the edited version that was shown during an episode of Family Guy which was still funny but didn't represent the movie as well as this unedited version. This looks funny as shit! Can't wait.

Blake Griffin Posterizes Gasol TWICE (GASOL IS A BITCH)

Here's some more Blake Griffin insanity and this time he owned the little bitch, Pau Gasol not once but TWICE in the same game. You would think Gasol would just take it like a man on the second one after he had already been humiliated but instead he started whining and complaining to the ref like the bitch he is and made himself look even dumber. I cannot stand that sissy. He is one of the most hateable players in the NBA. What a douche. Here's posterization #2:

Highlights From The 2012 NCAA College Slam Dunk Dunk Contest

I didn't get a chance to post these highlights last Friday but it's better late than never, especially with this year's contest. As always, the College Dunk Contest always ends up being better than the NBA Dunk Contest. Most of these kids probably won't make the league and they really have nothing to lose so they go all out and try and make a name for themselves. The pros either don't try hard enough or we don't get the best dunkers because they don't want to get hurt or run the risk of embarrassment. I think the NBA just needs to let in all of the best dunkers from around the world, regardless if they are in the league or not. That would be crazy entertaining and it would kind of be the World Championship of Dunking which would give the winner crazy bragging rights for at least a year. Just my two cents...

Calvin Harris - "Feel So Close" (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

It's kind of crazy that the video for Calvin Harris' "Feel So Close" has been out since last July but the song has really just caught fire in the past few months. This actually happens quite a bit with dance/electro joints because they get lost in the shuffle sometimes but this song is too good not to get some commercial love. I can't get enough of it for some reason.
