Bob Costas Quotes Ludacris on MLB TV (FUNNY ISH)

OK. Bob Costas is officially on my "Cooler than Expected" list after this little clip from MLB TV. Not only did he use the term "name-check" correctly but he was also on point with the lyrics and he genuinely seemed pumped that he made it into a rap lyric. Respect! Now I roll up torpedoes, get blunted with Rastas, For a hefty fee, I'm on your record like Bob Costas...

"Too Much Moneyball" - The New York Yankees Story (AMUSING)

This doesn't completely get rid of the sting the Red Sox gave their fans at the end of this season but it certainly helps a little bit. Anything that rips on the Yankees is always fun for Sox fans, although we can't even laugh at this that much since we are pretty much doing the same shit but failing at it. Ugh.

Eric Byrnes destroys Harold Reynolds on MLB TV (BOOM!)

I generally despise baseball talk and analysis because it is so freakin' boring but I might have to start tuning in to MLB TV if they do segments like this on a regular basis.  That was hysterical.  Harold Reynolds got JACKED UP!

Pat Burrell Partyin' With Hot Chicks (In A Dominatrix Suit?)

Pat Burrell just living the life of a professional athlete. Just chillin' and drinking some beer in the sun with his awful tighty whitey boxer briefs and some real hot chicks like it ain't no thang. I wonder if this is part of his new Spring Training regimen.

Baseball is such a joke, you can be an out of shape bum but still be dominant. For example:
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
This fat-ass threw a perfect game and oh ya, he said he was DRUNK while doing it.  C.C. Sabathia tips the scales at about 300 pounds, yet he is one of the most dominating pitchers in the game.  I don't know whether to be mad or just be impressed.
Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
I almost forgot to mention...Pat Burrell was partyin' with those hot chicks while wearing a dominatrix suit looking like "The Machine" from the movie 8MM ...WTF?!?!

Batting Stance Guy - 2010 MLB All-Star Game Starting Lineups (DECENT)

Just in time for tonight's game, Batting Stance Guy hits us off with a new video of his impersonations of the Starters from the 2010 MLB All Star Game.  As always, this guy is almost dead on with every single player.  It's definitely impressive.

I consider myself a big sports fan but I could have imitated maybe 3 stances of the guys listed.  I didn't even recognize half of the names either.  I guess I just don't follow baseball like I used to but I also think that players don't have as unique swings and stances like they did back in the day.

When I was growing up, you could break out a sick whiffle ball stance arsenal of Frank Thomas, Daryl Strawberry, Gary Sheffield, Ken Griffey Jr., David Justice, Mo Vaughn, Cal Ripken and Dwight Evans just to name a few.  If you ever followed baseball just a little bit, you can picture those unique stances in your head instantly.  I can't really think of any like that any more.  What's up with that?

By the way, how crazy is it that this Batting Stance Guy is sponsored by Lexus and is at the actual All Star Game? WTF?!?!  This dude was doing impersonations in his backyard with a whiffle ball bat with a shitty camera and now he's getting paid to make these videos.  Shit is crazy!  The internet is a funny place...

"Batting Stance Guy" Presents: 1st Team All-Mustache & All-Beard Lineups (CLASSIC)

"Batting Stance Guy" is back and he's bringing the heat with his batting stance imitations of the 1st Team All-Mustache and All-Beard Lineups.  How the hell does he remember all of these dudes?  He's like a whiffle ball idiot savant.

If you haven't seen any of his old videos, check out his imitations of Red Sox players past and present below or visit his YouTube page.  Dude is unreal.

"Situational Training" - David Wright and The Situation (VITAMINWATER COMMERCIAL)

I haven't seen this "commercial" on TV yet and I assume it's because it's too long but VitaminWater needs to find a way to edit this down to :30 seconds ASAP because this is hysterical.  I thought I was officially over anything "Jersey Shore" related but this is too funny to hate on.

My favorite part is when David Wright is just smacking the shit out The Situation with a bat to the abs and he just stands there while he's pimpin' on the phone and trying to get some girls to come by the crib later on.  Classic.

CC Sabathia Rocks Air Jordan XI "Cool Grey" and Air Jordan IV Cleats (NASTY)

Photobucket
I don't like giving the Yankees props for anything but I guess there is a first time for everything.  CC Sabathia's shoe game (or should I say cleat game) is ridiculously on point so far this season.  He broke out TWO different Air Jordan cleat models on Opening Day against the Red Sox Sunday night.

Sabathia rocked the Air Jordan XI "Cool Grey" for the first two innings and then switched over to the all black Air Jordan IV for the remaining innings. I can't wait to see what else he has in store for the rest of the season.  This is possibly the only reason why I will consider watching a Yankees game that doesn't involve the Sox.

On a side note, I can't get over how fat Sabathia is these days.  I mean, it's Opening freakin' Day!  Shouldn't you be in the best possible shape for the start of the season?  You would think if you were one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball, you might consider running a few laps once in awhile.  Just look at that belly!  God Damn!  What a fat f***!!!

Dock Ellis & The LSD No-Hitter (UNBELIEVABLE)

I've never heard of the LSD No-Hitter thrown in 1970 by former Pittsburgh Pirate Dock Ellis so I'm glad one of my boys sent me this video so I could hear the story directly from the man himself. This is the ultimate level of AWESOMENESS!  Holy Shit!  How the hell did he do this?  Unreal!

There is all of this talk about players using performance ENHANCING drugs but there is rarely any mention about people using performance INHIBITING drugs (except for David Wells Perfect Game where he was supposedly half-drunk and suffering from a ridiculous hangover).  Props to Doc Ellis for one of the most entertaining sports stories I've ever heard.  Great work by animator James Blagden and No Mas TV as well.  SO GOOD!!!

Jay Z & Alicia Keys - "Empire State Of Mind" Live At 2009 World Series Game 2 (ECHO SUCKS)

I didn't catch Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' performance of "Empire State of Mind" last night at Game 2 of the World Series live but I'm kind of glad I didn't because I would have been pissed at how the song was butchered by the sound engineers at the stadium.

Actually, I can't even blame them because there is only so much you can do at an open stadium like that.  I actually blame FOX for not figuring this out before they went live.  You can't really eliminate the echo in the stadium so why wouldn't FOX plug in to the original audio source so people at home didn't have to hear a shitty version of a great song?  I've seen multiple outdoor performances on TV where you didn't have to deal with this garbage. You just cut out the stadium and crowd microphones.  WTF were they thinking?

If you pay close enough attention, it sounds like they actually did a great job performing the song but it's hard to tell because of the freakin' painful echo bouncing all over the place.  I'm surprised they were able to concentrate but I assume they had earpieces in so they could follow the "real" beat.  That was just disappointing.

The Best Baseball Predicition Ever (UNBELIEVABLE)

Seattle Mariners radio announcer David Blowers made one of the most incredible predictions of all time during a recent broadcast.  Blowers not only chose infielder Matt Tuiasosopo as his Player of the Game but took it a step further and predicted the Rookie would hit his first Major League Home Run in his second at Bat.Off a Fastball on a 3-1 Count.Into the Second Deck. And guess what?  He freakin' nailed it!!!

The video above puts it all together for you.  UNREAL!

Remote Control Plane Distracts Dodgers Game (RANDOM)

Someone visiting from LA told me about this incident last week because they were actually at tis game.  It's kind of crazy that someone was able to control this plane from the parking lot (I assume) with such crazy accuracy.  They even had a couple of sweet dive moves before it hit the ground and fence right in front of the Arizona dugout.

Hopefully we don't ever see this again because it would be dangerous for the fans and players but it was cool to see at least once.

Fenway Park Still Has Beer Vendors? (WTF?!?!)

The wifey hooked it up with some SICK corporate seats for the Sox game last night.  They were third row on the 3rd base line!  I'm pretty sure I've never sat that close nor will I ever do it again unless she brings me to another game.  There is no way I could afford these tickets on my own.  There were definitely a bunch of corpos in suits sitting near us talking business and not paying attention to a second of the game.  What a waste.
It was a decent game that got a little more exciting when Victor Martinez hit a bases loaded double in the 7th to score three runs and put the Sox up 7-4 which would also be the final score.  I have to admit that even though I was watching the game, I was probably paying closer attention to all of the things going on around me.
The craziest thing I noticed whill sitting with the rich folks was that the Box seats still have Beer Guys that go up and down the aisles!  WTF?!?!   I thought they banned that from Fenway like 10 years ago.  I guess if you pay through the ass for your seats like these people do, you can pretty much get anything you want.  At least the Sox are basically admitting they are hemorrhagging money from their corporate clients and the rich bastards that sit in these seats so they want to hook them up with a few perks.  Wow.  You're too generous guys.  Seriously.

The rest of us are punished by the shitty behavior of a few drunks in the past that couldn't handle their liquor and started fights or puked on little kids in front of them.  Now "poor folk" have to get up from our seats every other inning to get more beer, while trying to navigate the ridiculously tight aisles and almost drilling the people in front of us in the back of the head with our knee, while pissing people off in the process because they have to stand up every 2 minutes.  That's always a fun adventure and obstacle course, especially after you are about 4-6 beers deep.

By the way, has anyone figured out why you get drunker and more hungover from Fenway tap beer than anywhere else in the world?  I feel like I get lit up after only 2 or 3 of those puppies and then my stomach and head are paying for it the next day (aka right now).  I'm convinced that they haven't cleaned the tubes connected to the taps since 1986 and there is some serious mold and bacteria growing in there which then makes it's way to the beer.  If anyone out there has ever worked as one of the beer vendors at Fenway, I'd be curious to find out the whole "cleaning" process you go through every night.  I'm pretty sure it consists of turning the line to the keg OFF and that's about it.  UGH.
I'm almost positive that Fenway is one of the only stadiums in MLB (or most of pro sports for that matter) that doesn't allow beer vendors to go up and down the rows all game long.  I was at a game in Shea Stadium last year even they had Beer Guys!!!  And that was in the Upper Deck!  Are you kidding me?  Mets fans are some of the sketchiest people on the planet and they willingly bring them beer at Shea but somehow the people of Boston can't get this service at Fenway because we are too rowdy or something?  Bullshit!  I can't handle this crap anymore.  I think I might start a petition.  We are getting screwed...

Hate it or Love It? - Prince Fielder's Game Winning "Explosion" Celebration

I'm not sure how I feel about this HR celebration by Prince Fielder and the Milwaukee Brewers.  Is the team just being creative and having fun or is Prince Fielder making an ass out of himself and his teammates by acting like they just won the World Series?

On one hand, it was pretty cool that Fielder hit a game winning HR.  Whenever that happens, it's always exciting, no matter what the circumstances.  I don't know when he planned this routine but it would be cool as hell if he called his shot before he got up to bat and told them all to be ready with the "nuclear explosion" celebration at home plate.  It definitely seems like the team has great chemistry and is  having fun which is a tough thing to find in the pros these days.

On the other hand, it's a little corny (maybe even disrespectful for the baseball purists) and completely unnecessary considering the Brewers SUCK.  They are currently 15 games behind the Cardinals and 4th place in the National League Central division.  Maybe the Brewers should work on your play on the field instead of choreographing routines at home plate on the off chance you might actually hit a game winning HR.  I don't know.  it's just a thought.

What do you think?  Is this the beginning of a terrible trend?

David Wright's Ridiculously Huge Helmet (AWESOME)

I just saw David Wright's ridiculously huge helmet on PTI a few minutes ago and had to post something about it immediately.  This might be the most ridiculously awesome thing I've ever seen!  The jokes are blatantly obvious but they're too good to pass up.  Let's give it a go:

The Great Gazoo from The Flinstones

Dark Helmet from Spaceballs

Toad from Mario Kart

"Bobblehead"
If Wright keeps hitting well while wearing this thing maybe the rest of the Mets will throw one on too.  It definitely couldn't hurt, especially with the way they've been playing this year.  That team is a freakin' train wreck!

I actually feel bad for the guy because he was out for a few weeks with a concussion after getting hit with a 90+ MPH fastball directly in the head.  Luckily he seems to be doing well and is almost back to normal.  Getting hit with a pitch that fast is no joke, especially when it's right on the side of your dome.

I'm surprised we haven't seen this happen more often.  One of these days we might see a death on the field if MLB doesn't do something about the head hunting.  It's getting ridiculous.  Don't be surprised if you see a more toned down version of this helmet in the next couple of years.  I heard they are implementing something in the minors next year to test it out.

Youkilis Charges Mound and Gives Tigers a Beatdown (AWESOME)

YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKK!!!

Of all the players on the Red Sox roster, why would you CHOOSE to antagonize Youkilis?  The guy is CRAZY!!!  It's like poking a bear at the Zoo.  You are just asking for trouble.  He has no problem taking on the entire opposing team by himself because he is INSANE.

That was just a stupid move by the Tigers rookie pitcher Rick Porcello.  Youkilis has been getting thrown at a lot lately so I can't blame him for charging the mound.  It turns out that this dude Porcello has hit two batters this year and both were Youkilis!!!  I'd be F'n pissed too.

Youkilis gets extra points for the solid helmet toss to distract Porcello and allow him to go in for the solid tackle.  Porcello was being a P***y by running backwards but Youkilis was possessed and was going to get that dude no matter how far he had to go.  We needed a good Red Sox fight.  It's been too long.  GOOD TIMES!!!

Craziness at an A's Game - Tasers, Foul Balls and more (WOW!)

This might be the craziest 3 minute sequence from a baseball game that has ever been caught on film.  Here's the quick breakdown:

1:05 - A belligerent fan gets tazed by Oakland Police
1:25 - Another fan accidentally gets pushed down the stairs in the background
1:42 - A foul ball lands in the vicinty.

Someone else that was there left a comment to give this situation a little more context:

goldengirl7516
I was sitting about 5 rows in front of him and he was actually a Texas fan and he kept yelling obnoxiously. The usher who had been very nice went over and made a joke. And dude flipped out screaming and swearing saying get outta my fing face and calling him the n word. They called security and he was still screaming and swearing. So the police came and while they were trying to put handcuffs on him he kept trying to swing at them. So they tasered him and he fell and hit his head.

OK, so the dude sounds like he was being an asshole but was the taser really necessary?  It's not like he was fighting back.  WTF were they thinking?  The dude was sitting down for Christ's sake!  I guarantee someone gets suspended or fired for this ordeal.  CRAZY!!!

"You Do Steroids!" Chant to A-Rod by Fenway Fans (OWNED)

"You Do Steroids!!!  Clap, Clap, CLAP-CLAP-CLAP!!!

HA HA!  Classic.  This chant was bound to happen at some point this season but we just didn't know how or when it would present itself.  As soon as I heard A-Rod got caught for steroid use a few months ago, I instantly thought about how relentless Red Sox fans would be at Fenway once the Yankees came to town.

The Sox are completely OWNING the Yankees this season (7-0) and I think the fans at Fenway were getting bored with the lack of competition.  When that happens, people get drunker and rowdier and hysterical chants start to float around the stands.  Most of them usually suck or are lame cliche's by some douchebag with no creativity but I thought this one was fairly solid.  It's simple but effective.  I hope I can get some tickets to a Sox/Yanks series before the end of the season so I can join in on the Gay-Rod bashing.  That never gets old.

Ellsbury Steals Home and Sox Sweep Yankees (NICE)

A Sox/Yanks series doesn't quite have the same appeal as it did in years past but it's always nice to beat them, especially when the Sox sweep the series.  There were a bunch of crazy games all weekend long which made the series more exciting than most people expected considering that the Yanks suck this year.

The best play of last night's game was when Jacoby Ellsbury stole home easily.  You rarely ever see that play these days but Ellsbury got in there with ease.  He even stumbled a bit and admitted after the game that he wa going to slide feet first but it looks like it didn't matter.  That has to be a scary play for the runner considering they could get drilled on the head with a 90+ MPH if he times it wrong.

Let's hope that this series helps boost Ellsbury's confidence so that he continues to play with some more consistency.  He was awful to start the season but he has been picking it up lately.  If he can keep improving and Ortiz actually starts hitting some Home Runs, then the Sox should have no problem taking over first place in a few weeks.

Dustin Pedroia's New PlayStation 3 Ad for MLB 09: The Show (FUNNY)

I saw Dustin Pedroia's new ad for MLB 09: The Show (PS3 only) last night for the first time and thought it was freakin' hysterical. I can't get over how TINY the dude is!  I knew he was small but seeing him in street clothes makes him look like a 10th grader with a receding hair line.  You could walk by him in the street and if you didn't know his face, you would have no clue that he was a professional baseball player.  He looks more like your local mailman than the reigning MLB MVP!  That just goes to show you how good the guy must be.
Photobucket
Here are the best lines from the commercial:
Pedroia (all fiesty): "Oh, I'm sorry.  I was just polishing my MVP trophy. How many MVP's do you know that can't hit that pitch."
Sony PS3 Guy: "Aside from you?"
Dustin just got OWNED in his own commercial!  HA HA.  That was classic Pedroia and definitely something I could see him getting pissed about in real life.  Let's hope he uses it for motivation this season!  The countdown to the Red Sox season opener is now just 33 days away.  Crazy!
