Gary Payton is Hatin' On My Boy Rondo
I used to love it when Gary Payton would flap his gums and talk shit back in the 90's when he was one of the best point guards in the L. Now he is just making an ass out of himself by talking smack about my main man, Rajon Rondo.
Does he really think that Rondo is just a towel waiver and that he had nothing to do with the Celtics winning a championship last year? Seriously? Please tell me he is just trying to create controversy like Barkley does so he can take his place on Inside the NBA one day. That is the only thing that would make any sense.
Did GP even watch a single playoff game last season? Rondo was tearing bitches up and keeping the team in sync at times when no one was doing shit with the exception of Paul Pierce. He was getting to the hoop at will, dropping dimes left and right and playing lock down D. What more can you ask for from a second year PG on a championship team? Many of us thought that Rondo couldn't handle the pressure in his second year but he proved everyone wrong. If GP was saying this before the playoffs, that's one thing but this is ridiculous. I just don't understand what is going through GP's head.
Payton was rumored to be coming to Boston as Rondo's backup last year until the Celtics decide to go with Sam Cassell. This has to be his jealousy and bitterness towards that situation and he just can't understand why a team wouldn't want him anymore. Otherwise, he is just a grumpy ex-player that just wants to take it out on some young guy that doesn't deserve the criticism. That's just weak.
Check out this follow up clip in which Ahmad Rashad and Chris Webber egg him on and get him all fired up about Rondo one more time. At least he said he was one of the Top 10 PG's in the NBA this time around. Payton is a seriously bitter old man. Get over it dude.
