THIS SUCKS - Posey Signs with New Orleans Hornets

Photobucket

This blows.  I really liked James Posey and was hoping he could stay in Boston for many more years to come.  He was solid for the C's all year when it came to defense and big shots.  This one really hurts.

According to ESPN.com:
"NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that James Posey has agreed to a four-year deal with the New Orleans Hornets worth an estimated $25 million.
Because of luxury-tax concerns, Boston was reluctant to offer Posey, 31, more than a two-year deal in spite of his considerable contributions to the Celtics' first championship since 1986."

It looks like Celtics fans are going to have to get used to the idea of key role players leaving for more money better opportunities and more playing time.  It happens with every championship team because those players have proven themselves on the big stage and other teams are willing to offer  more money or better long term situations.  At 31, Posey really needed to get that one big deal to feel secure for the rest of his career.  I can't blame him.  An injury can happen at any time and he has always been a role player so he has never gotten any of those big championships.  It's just a big stomach punch after all the positive vibes.  I will deal with it though if these are the negative repercussions of winning the NBA title.  5 year grace period anybody?

It sounds like House is on his way out the door too.  Damn.
