LeBron Travels Badly And Bitches About Being Called For It

My boys and I were discussing this video of LeBron taking about 8 steps on the way to the basket during the Cavs/Wizards game last night.  It came at a really crucial point in the game and the turnover played a huge role in the loss for the Cavs.

Once we started thinking about it, we realized how often he does this and how rarely it's actually ever called a travel.   I've definitely seen him take almost 4 steps before but they let him get away with hit because he ended up with a ridiculous highlight dunk.  The NBA would rather let their stars get away with bending the rules if it helps promote the game and excite the crowd.  I understand.  Michael Jordan is my favorite player of all time and he got away with murder.  Let's just try and keep it reasonable.  LeBron really seems to get away with more than most superstars and it sounds like he can't handle it when they actually make the right call.  Come on, bro!  You said you saw the replay.  You still think that you did nothing wrong?

I can't lie though. I love LeBron. The kid is ridiculous.   I just wish they kept him honest once in awhile.   I also wish he would stop whining so much about calls made by the refs, especially when they made the right call in a high pressure situation.  Get over it, LeBron. That was not a "crab dribble" whatever the F that is supposed to be.  I don't even think that exists and if it does, I'm pretty sure it's not legal.

What he should have been trying to do was a jump stop dribble which is actually legal and very effective if you can do it right. A lot of refs will call that incorrectly because you can almost stop dribbling from the three point line and end up with a layup if you do it correctly. The difference is that you have to land with two feet after the dribble, and then you are allowed to jump again after that. LeBron landed with one foot and took another step, so that is definitely a travel.

Here is a slow version of how it should be done:

My boy KG has been getting crushed with the travel calls this year too. He does travel at times but it's such a complicated move that he has in the post, the refs don't know what to do with it.  It looks like a travel almost every time but he has perfected the move with so much traffic that I am pretty sure he has it down legally.  I heard that the Celtics send tapes to the league office to show how it's not a travel but this year it's been called a ton.  I don't know if he is getting old and messing up or if there are new refs trying to stick it to the C's because they don't like how much they trash talk or something.  Who knows.  As long as they get the call right in the long run, that's all that matters.  It just seems like the refs are all over the place this year and I can't figure them out.
