C's Beat Cavs On Opening Night (C's LOOK SICK)

That's how you start the season off right!  As I predicted yesterday, the C's came out hard in Cleveland and stole a win on Opening Night against the Cavs with a final score of 95-89.  Keep in mind that the Cavs won their first 23 home games last year so this was probably a big shock to them and their fans.

Although the Celtics looked a little rusty in the first quarter and were down by 14 at one point, they eventually got their ish together and started to gel as the game progressed.  The second unit looked great with Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels leading the way.  They were the squad that brought the C's back into the game in the second quarter.

The addition of Sheed has already made a huge difference.  When he is on the floor, it spreads the offense much better and keeps all of the defenders honest.  Towards the end of the 4th quarter, the Cavs were starting to double team and were leaving Perkins wide open.  As usual, he was brickin' jumpers so something had to be done.  Last year we wouldn't have had any real options but now Sheed can come in to replace Perkins at the end of the game and the defense has to stay honest with one on one coverage or they will get burned by anyone on the floor.

As soon as Sheed came in with 4 minutes to play (he should have come in earlier but Doc probably didn't even remember he was on our team), the offense looked completely rejuvenated.  Pierce was getting open looks and was beating his man to the basket or draining jumpers.  Everyone else was moving much more freely as well and the ball movement was on point.  I really would like to Sheed play with the starters and I am sure that will happen more as the season progresses and/or the C's find themselves in tight games.

Overall, I thought it was a great first game for the Celtics, especially considering they were on the road in a hostile environment against what should be one of the best teams in the league this season.  The C's play again tonight but it should be a much easier matchup.  They have the Home Opener against the Charlotte Bobcats and I expect them to destroy them.  I'll be at the game tonight so expect to see another full game breakdown tomorrow.

Here are the highlights from all four games on Opening Night:
