If you've been to a Celtics game in the past few years then you most likely know about the "Legend of Gino".
Gino is that fruity looking guy with long hair, a beard and a GINO T-shirt from that
American Bandstand clip that plays on the Jumbotron whenever a Celtics win is within reach.
Last year the Gino video became a little played out and even the Jumbotron operator got sick of playing it but luckily there was a new character that appeared at the Garden who took the Gino character to the next level. His name is simply "
Aztec Gino" and he has to be one of the most random fan creations that I've seen in years. The guy dresses like an Aztec "warrior" of sorts but in all Celtic Green and glitter while waving a Celtics flag and dancing in the aisles during games.
I saw Aztec Gino on Sunday at Game On! just before Game 3 of the ALDS at Fenway. I had to get a pic with the dude to show all of my Celtics peeps I had finally met him in person. He seems like a good guy and I love his enthusiasm for the C's but I'm just not sure what he was doing at the Red Sox game since the Celtics had a preseason game that afternoon. He didn't exactly help the Sox pull out the win since they (aka Paplebon) collapsed in the 9th inning even though they were one out away fron the win but what can you do.
Hopefully Aztec Gino will bring the Celtics all the luck this season instead.
