Sirius XM iPhone App Now Available But No Howard Stern (WEAK!)

I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I opened my browser to Sirius.com to listen online.  I found out that the Sirius XM iPhone App was FINALLY available so I downloaded it immediately.  I got pumped about being able to listen to the my favorite music stations and Howard 100 and Howard 101 anywhere I wanted.  Reception can suck indoors and I can't listen to the online media player on my computer because it's a Mac and it is a Windows only media player (WTF is that by the way!!!) so I was super excited that I finally had another option.

After opening up the app and signing in I immediately went to look for Howard 100 so I could take a listen to the Howard Stern Show.  I couldn't find it and started freaking out so I did a little research.  The Stern Show and a lot of the sports programming is not available because they do not have mobile streaming rights, whatever that means.  Here is the official information from Sirius:

Some select programming, including MLB Play-by-Play, NFL Play-by-Play, SIRIUS NASCAR Radio, and Howard Stern, will not be available on the iPhone and iPod touch. Listeners will continue to be able to access that programming through the platforms they are currently offered on.

That is seriously weak.  That is all the stuff I listen to on Sirius on a regular basis other than Shade 45.  The music channels and some talk/entertainment/news channels are fine but most of that stuff I can get for free on other apps like Pandora or Last.FM.  Don't forget that you now have to pay for online streaming (which is some serious bullshit by the way) so even though the Sirius XM app is free, you still have to pay $2.99 extra a month on top of your regular subscription fee just to be able to access the app in the first place.

That's some seriously weak shit.  I really hope they add The Stern Show at some point in the near future or they are going to piss off a lot of current customers.  They will also be missing the boat on new iPhone customers or even current iPhone customers that would consider buying a subscription to Sirius XM if they could listen on their iPhone and didn't need to purchase a completely different unit just to get all of the channels.  I was considering ditching my car unit and just use my iPhone but now I can't do that since I mostly listen to The Stern Show in my car.  WTF!!!

Step your game up SIRIUS!  You are really starting to piss people off.
