DJ Hero Interview from IGN.com (INTERESTING)

As I've mentioned in a previous post, I'm still a little up in the air about the new DJ Hero game from Activision that is set to drop in October 2009.  Since I am a DJ myself, I am pumped that someone finally made a game like this but I am also a little concerned about the game play and it's authenticity.  If the game is too easy, people will think that DJ'n for real is just as easy which is obviously not the case.  This could increase the number of people that get interested in DJ'n for real which is a good thing but at the same time it would flood the world with a lot of terrible DJ's with horrible mixing skills.  I am sure the same issue came about from Guitar Hero and Rock Band so I guess it comes with the territory.

Getting a closer look at the console and a few screenshots of the game in the video above was cool.  I was wondering how it would all work but now it makes a little more sense.  I'm still confused as to how the buttons on the middle of the turntable platter will work but I guess I just have to wait to play the game to figure it out.  I do like the fact that they will allow you to flip the mixer so you can spin lefty or righty.  I'm a southpaw myself so that would have sucked if I had to play right handed.  My anticipation for this game has definitely increased now that I've seen a few more details.  I guess I will be buying myself an extra birthday present in October.
