Tecmo Bowl Throwback Coming for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (NICE)

YES!!!  It's about time they updated Tecmo Bowl!   This is virtually the only game I would play on NES or SNES as a youngster.  Tecmo Bowl only had 4 plays on offense and defense and there were only about 5 decent teams worth using but it is still arguably the best sports game ever invented.  Most people would obviously argue that the best sports game ever is Madden NFL but it might have never existed without Tecmo Bowl helping to create the football video game addiction that exists today. 

I think this new update is a great idea.  It will be available on XBox 360's Live Arcade and also on the PlayStation Network for the PS3.  Unfortunately,  the game will be without the NFL-licensed players and teams but you will be able to edit the team names and players if you want to spend a little time to keep it updated with current NFL rosters.

There's no word on price or an actual release date but it is expected to arrive in Spring 2010.  I'd assume the game will be in the $10-$15 range since you can download it right to your console.  If that's the case, I will definitely buy a copy.  It will be a nice way to relive the glory days when playing the same game for 12 straight hours wasn't considered a serious problem...
