Puma's New "Clever Little Bag" Shoe Box Design (COOL)


Puma just introduced their new cutting edge shoe box called "Clever Little Bag".  By reducing the size and materials used for the "box", Puma was able to reduce cardboard use by 65%, eliminated assembly and tissue, plus save 8,500 tons of paper, 20 million megajoules of electricity, 1 million liters of water and reduce carbon dioxide by 10,000 tons.  Wow.

As a sneakerhead, I'm a little concerned though.  I like the tissue included in the shoe because it helps keep it's shape and gets rid of moisture along with the silica packets.  It's also going to make a it a lot more difficult to stack and store any new Pumas with the rest of my kicks.  I'm all for saving the planet but I also have limited space in my shoe closet that the wife restricts me to for my sneaker collection.

I do like the design though.  It's very clean and simple.  I did like a few of the other designs from the video.  When you slow it down, you can get a glimpse at a few nice looking boxes like these below:
