larry (the actor) Screenings at Urbanworld Film Festival in NYC Sep 10-14

My boys over at Bootleg Productions have been very busy over the past couple of months getting their film "larry (the actor)" accepted in various film festivals across the country. "Larry" was accepted into the 2008 Independent Film Festival of Boston and received a ton of praise from the crowd, critics and festival attendees.  Click here for more articles and review on the official site

I was lucky enough to get a chance to see the short film myself and I have to say it far exceeded my expectations.  It actually got me amped up and motivated to kick some ass in the game of life at the end of the film when Larry goes on a rant and delivers one of the most inspiring monologues I've seen in a long time. Although I am friends with the Bootleg boys, I still went in to the flick as unbiased as humanly possible so that I could form a real opinion myself. I was both pleasantly surprised and moved at the same time. Here is a quick synopsis to give you a better feel for the movie:

A mofaux documentary. It's Tuesday and Larry's just left his last audition. He's been acting for thirty years, but if he doesn't get this part by Friday he's leaving the Left Coast for good. Portrayed with haunting candor by Mamet regular, Lionel Mark Smith (Spanish Prisoner, State & Main, Edmond), Larry reminisces on life as a black actor, positivism, and where to buy the freshest oranges in Inglewood...all with an eye on the phone and his mind on the Southside of Chicago.

If you happen to be in the NYC area September 10th - 14th, be sure to stop by and check it out at the Urbanworld Film Festival.  Tickets are still available.  I promise you will not be disappointed.

Shout out to my boys Brett and Eric! Keep doing your thing, homies! Big things are on the horizon.
