Retro Kidz "New Era" - Official Music Video

Retro Kidz "New Era" Official Music Video

This just hit my Inbox and all I can say is HOLY SHIT! This is one of the sickest videos I have ever seen! I like what the Retro Kidz are doing and I am definitely going to start following them to see what else they are up to in the near future. Keep making them like this and I will promote the hell out of y'all!

There are so many damn 90's references in here I lost track after the original Walkman, Reebok Omni Zone pumps, Kenny Anderson Nets jersey and the high top fades! I mean, this is EXACTLY all of the shit I loved back in the day since this was right around the time when I started to really love Hip Hop. I was wearing this shit and rockin' any Hip Hop I could find to listen to for the bus ride to school.

The track is catchy as hell too since it samples parts of "I Got the Power" first by Chill Rob G and then redone by Snap! for the version that everyone knows now. I looked this shit up on Wikipedia because I forgot Chill Rob G's name and I thought Snap! bit his track but check this out if this is actually true:

Benito Benites and John "Virgo" Garrett III first released the song in 1990 on the Wild Pitch Records label in the United States calling themselves "Power Jam (featuring Chill Rob G)". However, they failed to legally clear samples in the song. The song contained samples from "Let the Words Flow" by Chill Rob G, "Love's Gonna Get You" by Jocelyn Brown, and "King Of The Beats" by Mantronix. The song was re-recorded in the U.S. in response to the unlicensed samples with Durron Butler (Turbo B.) replacing the acapella vocal of Chill Rob G, and for this new version they adopted the name "Snap!".

That's fucked up! I feel bad for Chill Rob G. He had a few decent tracks in his career but he missed out on a serious money maker once he was pushed off the newer version of the track. WTF! I would be pissed as hell! I actually like the Chill Rob G version better too. The lyrics are actually saying something and it's not just a dance track. Check it:

T.O's Starting Gate Touchdown Celebration - Usain Bolt Shout Out?

I thought the new T.O. Touchdown Celebration was pretty solid. It was definitely funny and original and a nice reference to Usain Bolt killing everyone by 10 yards in every race of this summer's Olympics.

I would love to see those two in a straight up 100M race. Although Bolt would most likely win, you might be surprised at how fast Owens really is and how close it might be. They are both very similar in size and stride so it would be cool to see them battle it out for some cash. T.O. says he could win if he got a 20 Yard head start but I really doubt he needs it.

T.O. ended up getting a 15 yard penalty on the kick off for "Unsportsman Like Conduct". Seriously NFL? Get a sense of humor and lighten up. That really wasn't that bad and was pretty funny. People love seeing players like him and Chad Johnson each week because you never know what they are going to do next. It keeps people watching, which is part of entertainment. Ocho Cinco and T.O. realize this is just a sport and it's supposed to be fun so let them have their antics. It's not hurting anyone.

Peep the dope Jordan III cleats that T.O. is rocking as well. Sick! They look great in pictures but even cooler on the field.

Brady's Could Be Out for the Season with Torn Knee Ligament - Patriot Nation Cries Like Little Girls

So this isn't good.  It sounds like Tom Brady could be out for the entire season!  SHIT!  I think you could hear a pin drop throughout New England on Sunday afternoon as we started to realize that Brady was hurt and wasn't getting up.  Although he was able to limp off the field, we all knew that there was potential for a serious injury, especially whenever the knee is involved.

Although some are saying that Polloard's tackle wasn't dirty, I still think it was ridiculous that he was even trying to tackle Brady from the ground.  Nothing good is coming from that play.  The chances of injury are high because you are low to the ground and slashing at someones legs and the probability of making a tackle from there are slim at best.  With that play, Pollard basically ruined the Patriots season and pissed off and disappointed every single Pats fan.  What an ass.

I heard that the Pats are calling Chris Simms (formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) to come in for a workout this week.  He is serviceable but definitely not a great replacement for Brady, not that anyone really is.  I thought Cassell looked decent and could be OK for the rest of the season if the Pats continue with a nice running game but neither choice is at the top of my list and we would all be stressed out every single play for the rest of the season watching one of those two run this team.

I know that he is a little older now, recovering from a serious knee injury and is probably too expensive but what about Daunte CulpepperHe isn't on a roster right now and it sounds like he really wants to play badly this season.  He doesn't even have an agent and he is looking to just play for anyone so maybe he will take a pay cut, especially to play with a great team like the Pats.  He may never be the same as he once was after the injury but it might be worth a try considering the options are very limited.  Moss and Culpepper were a NASTY combination in Minnesota just a few years ago and it would be great to see the reunion.  It would be like watching a real life version of Madden as DC tosses bombs to Moss for 80 yard TD plays.  That is best case scenario but wouldn't that be great if it worked out?  It can't hurt to dream about the potential.

I believe Moss and DC are still good friends and always got along, so it would be a nice move to keep Moss motivated all season long as opposed to the Pats starting to lose with Cassell and Simms and then he reverts back to Moss from the Raiders and starts causing issues in the locker room.  It's a risk but it could pay off.

This week is going to be tough as we continue to learn more about this injury and how it will affect the rest of the Pats season.

UPDATE: It's OFFICIAL. Brady is out for the season and will undergo surgery.

Um, ya. Woo, this is tough to swallow right now. Not sure how this is going to work.  I think I might be shifting my focus to the Celtics quicker than I thought...

larry (the actor) Screenings at Urbanworld Film Festival in NYC Sep 10-14

Photobucket

My boys over at Bootleg Productions have been very busy over the past couple of months getting their film "larry (the actor)" accepted in various film festivals across the country. "Larry" was accepted into the 2008 Independent Film Festival of Boston and received a ton of praise from the crowd, critics and festival attendees.  Click here for more articles and review on the official site

I was lucky enough to get a chance to see the short film myself and I have to say it far exceeded my expectations.  It actually got me amped up and motivated to kick some ass in the game of life at the end of the film when Larry goes on a rant and delivers one of the most inspiring monologues I've seen in a long time. Although I am friends with the Bootleg boys, I still went in to the flick as unbiased as humanly possible so that I could form a real opinion myself. I was both pleasantly surprised and moved at the same time. Here is a quick synopsis to give you a better feel for the movie:

A mofaux documentary. It's Tuesday and Larry's just left his last audition. He's been acting for thirty years, but if he doesn't get this part by Friday he's leaving the Left Coast for good. Portrayed with haunting candor by Mamet regular, Lionel Mark Smith (Spanish Prisoner, State & Main, Edmond), Larry reminisces on life as a black actor, positivism, and where to buy the freshest oranges in Inglewood...all with an eye on the phone and his mind on the Southside of Chicago.

If you happen to be in the NYC area September 10th - 14th, be sure to stop by and check it out at the Urbanworld Film Festival.  Tickets are still available.  I promise you will not be disappointed.

Shout out to my boys Brett and Eric! Keep doing your thing, homies! Big things are on the horizon.

Patriots (28) vs. Chiefs (16) 2009 Week 1 Madden 09 XBox 360 Prediction

I've done the Patriots simulation/prediction using XBox 360 for the past two years, so I figured I would keep it going this year. I have to admit, I am a little upset with the video quality on this one. I'm not really sure WTF happened. I guess my settings were off or something. It usually looks a little better than this. Oh well. What can you do.

I predicted a final score of Pats 28 - Chiefs 16
Brady ended up with 399 Yds. Passing, 3TD's and 1 INT
Moss had 281 Yds. Receiving, 11 Receptions and 2 TD's

I can't wait for the new NFL season to finally get going again. Actually, it seems like just a few short months ago when the Pats gave away Super Bowl XLII to the punk ass Giants. There is no way they should have lost that game but they gave it away. I still can't get over that. They basically ruined what would have been one of the best 12 months in Boston sports with the Sox winning the 2007 World Series in October and the Celtics winning the 2008 NBA Championship in June.

Doh! Why did I have to bring that up again. Kill me now. Please step it up this season fellas, so we can all forget about that debacle!

Daisuke Matsuzaka Dice K Dragon Nike Air Force 1

Photobucket

I wasn't expecting Dice K to be the next athlete to get his own signature Air Force 1's but I have to admit, these are dope! I thought they would be a crazier color design and utilize Red Sox colors but it turns out that Dice K wanted to do something to represent his home of Tokyo, Japan. These joints are definitely different and do not disappoint.

If you take a look at the Nike 1 World site, you can scroll over each part of the shoe to learn about the type of material used and why Dice K selected it. The front white section uses PONY HAIR(!) while the orange heal and upper lacing uses orange snakeskin to symbolize the look of a dragon which is a popular in Japanese culture and art.

SICK!!!
