XBox Kinetic - No Controller Needed (COULD BE SICK)

Damn!  This new "Project Natal" (now named XBox Kinetic) for the XBox 360 could be dope as hell if it ends up working like it does in the video above.  The problem is, the finished product will probably be a lot more inconsistent and frustrating to use since the technology to pull this off is not quite where it needs to be.  Just think about voice recognition on your cell phone.  You have to either say it 10 times before it recognizes what you are saying or it calls the wrong person.  It's annoying as hell.  I'm sure similar problems will arise with Project Natal as well.

It might take awhile to get this concept running at full strength but this would be insanely fun if it's ever done correctly.  This is defintiely the next level above the Nintendo Wii.  I could see people using this for their workouts at home and it could probably help those gaming nerds drop a few more pounds too.  I already use Wii Sports Boxing to get a workout in once in awhile so if I could do some more intense movements without having to worry about throwing my controller through the flat screen, then I will be pretty damn excited.  I would buy this in a heartbeat if it was priced right and worked correctly.

It should be interesting to see how this all pans out.  If Microsoft can get this on the market in the next year or so and it works as advertised then they will take away a ton of sales from the Nintendo Wii and PS3.

This is the quick description of Project Natal from YouTube:
Introducing Project Natal, a revolutionary new way to play: no controller required. See a ball? Kick it, hit it, trap it or catch it. If you know how to move your hands, shake your hips or speak you and your friends can jump into the fun -- the only experience needed is life experience. Jay-Z - "D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)" (HOT SHIT)

Yeah mayne!  It's about time someone put out a song signaling the death of Autotune and there's no one better to do it than Jay-Z.  One of my favorite recent Jay-Z lines was the beginning of his rap on Jeezy's "Put On" Remix when he said:

'Ey Guru, put a lil' T-Pain on my shit too
Know what I mean? Uh
I put on... (Oh you bout to put on Hov?) G Mix
I don't need no T-Pain, I got this one,
yes

That's when I knew he was just as fed up with that shit as I was.  I hope to God that everyone else follows suit and bans this autotune shit from the booth forever.  I just can't take it anymore.  I think the Blueprint 3 album will officially put everyone in their place and show them that you don't need that garbage to make a dope rap record.  Ya Boy is back in the building!

LYRICS (I put my favorite lines in bold):
Only rapper to rewrite history without a pen,
No ID on the track let the story begin, begin, begin (chorus)
This is anti autotune, death of the ringtone, this aint for itunes, this aint for sing alongs,
this is Sinatra at the opera, bring a blonde, preferably with a fat ass who can sing a song, wrong,
this aint politcally correct, this might offend my political connects,
my raps dont have melodies, this should make jackers wanna go and commit felonies, ahh
get your chain tooking, I may do it myself Im so Brooklyn.
I know we facing a recession, but the music yall making going make it the great depression.
All your lack of aggression put your skirt back down, throw a set man.
Yeah this just violent, this is the death of autotune, moment of silence.
(Chorus)
This aint a number one record, this is practically assault with a deadly weapon,
I made it just for flex and mister Cee I want people to feel threatened
stop your bloodclot crying, the kid, the dog everybody dying, no lying,
you boys jeans too tight, you colors too bright, your voice too light
I might wear black for a year straight, I might bring back Versace shades
this aint for z 100(?), Ye told me to kill yall to keep it 1 hundred,
this is for hot 97, for Khalid to be the best in,
yeah this is just violent, death of autotune, moment of silence.

(Chorus)
This might need a verse from Jeezy, I might send this to the mixtape weezy,
get somebody from BMF to talk on this, give this to a blood let a crip walk on it,
50 thou to style on this, I just dont need nobody to smile on this,
you rappers singing too much, get back to rap you t-paining too much.
Im a multi-millionaire so how is it Im still the hardest here,
I dont be in the project hallway talking about how I be in the project all day
that sound stupid to me, if you a gangsta this is how you prove it to me.
Yeah just get violent, this Death of auto-tune moment of silence.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar does Jimmy Fallon interview as Zack Morris (WTF?!?)

This is one of the weirdest/coolest things I have ever seen on late night TV.  I also think it's one of the best ideas ever and I am glad Mark-Paul Gosslear was cool enough to go along with it.  Zack Morris doesn't look like he as aged a day!  The Roots even played the Saved By The Bell theme and then performed Zack Attack's "Friends Forever".  UNREAL!

Judah Friedlander is the World Champion of Ping Pong (NASTY!)

Judah Friedlander aka the Trucker Hat guy from 30 Rock is not exactly what you would call an athlete.  Actually, you probably wouldn't call anyone that played Ping Pong/Table Tennis an athlete since it's played mostly by potheads and nerds in basements across the world.  There is defintiely some athletic skill involved with the game when you play on a high level though.  I will give them that.

Judah is a tubby bearded slob that reminds you more of a homeless man than someone who would be good at any kind of "sport" but I have to say that this dude has some serious skills at Pong.  I'm pretty sure the video was not edited in any way either.  I think he is just that nasty.  I never would have guessed that one but it sounds like he had years of practice playing by himself in his Mom's basement.  That makes sense now...

Random Ish to Start the Week Off Right (VIDEOS)

Here are a few random videos that I've come across recently.  I didn't have much ready for this morning so I figured this would hold you over until I got something better for later in the day.
Little League Coach gets knocked the F out by a mean line drive (OUCH)

Man gets electrocuted and dies from touching electric lines (EXTREMELY GRAPHIC)

Weird Hippy Kid starts a crazy dance party while Santogold performs (PRETTY COOL)

Great Moments in Cleveland Sports History - Inside the Cavs Huddle right before "The Shot" by Jordan in the 1989 Playoffs (FUNNY)

DJ Hero Interview from IGN.com (INTERESTING)

As I've mentioned in a previous post, I'm still a little up in the air about the new DJ Hero game from Activision that is set to drop in October 2009.  Since I am a DJ myself, I am pumped that someone finally made a game like this but I am also a little concerned about the game play and it's authenticity.  If the game is too easy, people will think that DJ'n for real is just as easy which is obviously not the case.  This could increase the number of people that get interested in DJ'n for real which is a good thing but at the same time it would flood the world with a lot of terrible DJ's with horrible mixing skills.  I am sure the same issue came about from Guitar Hero and Rock Band so I guess it comes with the territory.

Getting a closer look at the console and a few screenshots of the game in the video above was cool.  I was wondering how it would all work but now it makes a little more sense.  I'm still confused as to how the buttons on the middle of the turntable platter will work but I guess I just have to wait to play the game to figure it out.  I do like the fact that they will allow you to flip the mixer so you can spin lefty or righty.  I'm a southpaw myself so that would have sucked if I had to play right handed.  My anticipation for this game has definitely increased now that I've seen a few more details.  I guess I will be buying myself an extra birthday present in October.

Air Jordan XII "Nubuck" Retro Now In Stores (NOT BAD)

The Air Jordan XII is definitely in my Top 5 for Dopest Jordan's but I'm not completely sold on this new version simply called the Air Jordan XII "Nubuck".  The shoe is mostly black with a hint of Carolina Blue.  I had a chance to peep these in person recently at FinishLine and they are definitely nice.  I'm just a little confused as to why they didn't use the Carolina blue on the side panel like they did with the white and red on the originals.  I think that would have been hot as shit!

I will still consider purchasing these kicks because they are super comfortable and definitely one of the classics but I might hold off in hopes of a fresher colorway dropping sometime soon.  If I'm going to spend $150, I would rather wait for a color scheme that I really like or always wanted.  Rumor has it that they will be dropping the original White/Red colorway later this year.  DOPE!!!
