Reflection Eternal - "Ballad Of The Black Gold" (DOPE)


The more I hear "Ballad of The Black Gold" the more I love it.  It's a great song that actually has a real message.  When was the last time you heard a politically conscious song like this and it was actually good?  This is what Rap/Hip Hop used to be all about but the new generation of Hip Hop got lost along the way.  Hopefully this song continues to game some steam and wakes people up to the fact that you can make good music and actually say something of value at the same time. 

Rarely do you hear a message of any significance these days.  It's usually just about money, cars, ho's and clothes and of course, slangin' that shit.  It would be great to see a new school movement of Hip Hop with a message like we saw back in the late 80's and early 90's with groups like Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions (KRS-One) and Poor Righteous Teachers.  It doesn't get much better than this:
