Q-Tip - "Move" Official Video & New Album "Renaissance" In Stores Now!!!
If you are a true A Tribe Called Quest fan then you need to cop Q-Tip's new album "Renaissance" ASAP!!! This is the album we have been waiting for from Q-Tip ever since ATCQ split up years ago. We got a solo album from him back in 1998 in the form of "Amplified" and although I thought it was a cool album with the hit singles "Vivrant Thing" and "Breathe and Stop", it just wasn't what people expected or wanted from him. He got a little caught up in the uptempo sounds of the time which was all about selling records and shaking asses in the club. I can't get mad at him specifically though because I'm sure the record label forced some of that.
I think Tip finally got fed up with the bullshit in Hip Hop and decided to make the album we've all been waiting to hear. I literally just downloaded the whole album from iTunes this morning but I have heard about half of the songs already and they are all insane. I have a feeling I will be listening to this all day and maybe all week. You will feel like you are taking a trip back to the good old sounds of ATCQ but with updated lyrical content and more mature subject matter. I think this is just what industry needed as a kick in the ass and to make everyone realize that real Hip Hop is still alive and well.
Here is the official video for "Gettin' Up. This is by far one of my favorite songs of 2008 and I think "Move" (above) is in a close second. Instant classics!
This is the remix for "Gettin' Up" featuring Eve. It definitely has a different vibe to it with the "All About the Benjamins" sample and the faster more commercial beat produced by Swiss Beatz. It's definitely for the radio and clubs. I still like it though:

All About The Benji's remix is garbage but the other two are very solid. I'm going to have to give this album a look. Think they'll sell it as a tape for my Explo?
Ya, it doesn't really make sense but it is what is. I doubt they'll be selling the tapes but maybe I can hook you up with a copy on one of those "CD Quality" metal Sony tapes. ha ha.
